Great room and lovely hosts…but parking and restaurant availability close by misleading

The room was lovely and the view of Genoa amazing.

If you are elderly like us..to have to walk up 2 flights of stairs with luggage is challenging..although Carlos did carry our luggage up…but my point is we should have been made aware of this and some other challenges. We were told there was parking…but it was very narrow hillside parking if there was a spot on the street close by….luckily there was…but parking in Genoa is a major problem. Next we were told in booking description that restaurants were just down the street….well down the street meant walking down 150-200 stairs or more there n back in the dark..to street level as you are on a major hill…so we were very disappointed that this was very misleading…..if you are up for that challenge..great place to stay….

This stay was wonderful! Carlo and Antonella have a beautiful home to share and everything in guest space is lovely Hosts are so friendly and helpful and the breakfast is delicious. And I loved the view of the city from the huge windows. It is not far from the Principe train station.

This is about Genoa generally, not this lodging only- Genoa is hilly to walk around, away from the port and old town. And many residences don't have elevators to lodging levels so you may need to consider that as you choose the place you stay and how you get around with your luggage. You could get a taxi from Principe train station.

Lovely stay in Doria House

Lovely Stay in Genoa Apartment, which was was very clean and spacious. The views were stunning overlooking the harbour area, especially lit up at night. It was located within 10 min walking distance to Piazza Principe Railway station, which we were able to use to get to other areas we travelled to. These areas were Cinque Terre - Santa Margherita - Portofino - San Remo...Daily breakfast was great although mostly pastries. Local shop was within a few minutes walk to get provisions. The owners are very helpful, efficient and friendly. We also ate at a superb Italian place in the city, Cacio and Pepe.

The many, very steep stairs that you had to climb from along the steep road, to arrive at the road the apartment was situated on.

Good

The size of the room was pleasant, lots of space. Cute breakfast almost on the go. We had spacious private bathroom and the place was quiet. Location was good too, near train station with amazing window view. Also, the hosts were nice.

Room could have been cleaner a bit more, the bed was not so comfortable, the bed mattress was too soft and wooden bed slats were unfortunately falling down a lot for some reason.

Absolutely wonderful

The view from the window was incredible. There was an AC. The owners of the place are absolutely lovely: they showed us what good places we should visit in the city and even provided us with a map and a city brochure. There was also a small breakfast: coffee/tea (kettle and the coffee machine are in the room), cheese, bread, jam, etc. Everything was perfectly clean and extremely cozy. Thank you so much!

You have to go up an extremely big hill, which is very hard if you have heavy baggage. However, it's a good chance for a workout after a delicious day in the city 🙂 Although you can get by car and the owners are ready to provide a parking spot.

Spectacular view of Genoa.

The owners of this property were absolutely wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble, and we could not have asked for better hosts. The room was clean and a nice variety of items were provided for breakfast. The view from the room is spectacular with a great view over the bay. Premises are only a short distance for the main railway station.

Genoa is built on the steep slopes of a sheltered bay. There is a small tram which runs occasionally up to the rear of the premises. However, the hill is very steep especially with heavy luggage. I would consider a taxi if travelling the short distance to or from the railway station.

Beautiful place with an adorable host ! Super cozy but a bit far from everything

The owner is super nice and friendly, very helpful. The room is really well decorated with a beautiful view on the Harbor. The whole place feels like home. The bathroom is outside but everything is very private.

There is no AC and it can get pretty hot. There is a fan but AC would have been nice. The location is ok, it’s a bit far from the city center and quite a climb from the train station.

The host was welcoming and nice and the view from the big room over the city and habour was awesome! Seeing cruise ships arrive every day was great!

Unfortunately the accommodation was 12-15min up the hill (with no restaurants or grocery shopping options near by) and I didn't feel safe going home alone at night in that area. The bed was not too comfy.

Genova, Portofino, Varazze - lovely

The quality-price ratio was very good. Located very close to Principe train station, 10-15 minutes walk (uphill), close to the center. The wonderful view from the room, cleanliness, spaciousness. Perfect accommodation for a few days.

Excellent hosts and good for couples

Doria House 23 is an excellent place to stay for couples and the hosts Antonella and Carlo are wonderful and helpful people. The room is very large with a queen size bed, TV, and is cutely decorated. Antonella spoke great English and spent time with me going over a map highlighting good places to visit, what restaurants to eat at, and details on the apartment. The rooms includes a large well furnished bathroom with a large tub/shower. You get a fantastic ocean view from the room I stayed in.

The place is about a 15 minute walk from the train station but is up on a steep hill up about 100 meters so you might want to take a taxi if you have a lot of luggage or large bag. Not a lot to do near the room but the subway is at the base of the hill so you can get around quickly.

Our stay in Doria House was just perfect. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The view from our room was astonish- the whole horbour, big part of the city and of course the see. The room was lightful, clean and with big sense of art The house is situated on a hill but there is a variety of ways to get there easily. There is a small super-market 5 minutes away by walk. The historical part of the city is about 15 minutes walk, there is a metro station, many buses around the railway station is just around the corner. In our last morning we was leaving early but dispide this we had a breakfast- wich was very sweet surprise for us. Highly recommended this place .

Perfect staying, Genoa is beautiful

Big , cozy room with privet bathroom. Very clean, feel like home. Everything made with love and attention. Nice breakfast, friendly owners help us with a parking and recommended restorants. Located walking distance to the city center, but pay attention, that you need to climb up a lot of steps. But amazing view from the window is a big compensation for this.

This is a great place to stay in Genoa. I did not mind walking up the hill to reach it by foot, from the train station. The view is spectacular. I would definitely return. The hosts are always available to answer any questions you may have.

Very good

Great value for money. The owners are super friendly, responsive and helpful. Stunning view of city and sea. City center is within 20 mins walk distance. The return to room path is a bit more challenging due to uphill climbimg however not a big problem.

The bathroom, especially the tub might have been more useful. The neighborhood you are passing by while walking to the city center feels unsafe sometimes. Use via Balbi.

Da Antonella ci ritornerei, ma non nella stessa struttura

+ L'ospitalità di Antonella, ci ha fatto sentire come a casa e siamo stati accolti con braccia aperte. + Ci è stato offerto la collazione e sia anche dell'acqua fredda nel frigorifero. + La vista dalla stanza è eccezionale e si vede tutto il porto con le navi da crociera. + Il parcheggio pubblico davanti al appartamento gratuito (le strade sono molto strette ed un SUV p. e. non ci passa.

- La struttura e trascurata e si potrebbe ristorare. Ogni passo che si fa nella stanza si sente ed anche quando il vicino di sopra cammina. Il portone d’entrata fa troppo rumore e si sa subito, quando una persona entra od esce. - Nel vasca da bagno c’è la ruggine e sia anche sul portasciugamani (vedi le foto) - Il letto e posizionato molto basso ed il materasso è troppo morbido. - La posizione non è ideale, che bisogna farsi dalla stazione 15 min a piede in salita con tantissimi gradini.

Een prima uitvalsbasis voor Genua met een behulpzame gastheer.

Een smaakvol ingerichte kamer met een fantastisch uitzicht over de haven van Genua, van de oude vuurtoren tot aan de oude binnenstad. De gastheer had, slim, met zijn auto een plek voor het appartement ingenomen opdat wij onze auto daar konden parkeren als hij deze in zijn garage zette, belangrijk omdat parkeren in Genua een drama is. Iedere ochtend stond er bij de entree van het appartement een prima ontbijt klaar. Hij kwam ook met prima adviezen m.b.t. eetgelegenheden en te bezoeken plekken.

De keerzijde van het prachtige uitzicht: een hele klim om te voet of op de fiets bij het appartement te komen, en met een SUV valt het niet mee om door de nauwe straatjes vol met geparkeerde auto´s en motorfietsen te manoeuvreren. Na een lange dag banjeren door Genua hebben we echter een slimme oplossing bedacht: gewoon met de taxi terug, snel en dus goedkoop.

Colazione super fornita, disponibilità immensa da parte della proprietaria che ci ha anche spiegato posti e mezzi di trasporto. La posizione molto comoda anche se fa faticare un po'. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Vista stupenda!

Per me che ho problemi col sonno il letto non è stato il massimo, ma per un paio di giorni di vacanza è più che okay.

La struttura è molto bella. La stanza curata nei piccoli dettagli. Si nota la grande attenzione della signora Antonella e ciò l'abbiamo apprezzato Livello di pulizia altissimo. Anche l'accoglienza davvero spettacolare. Il signor Carlo oltre a dare ottimi e validi consigli sul soggiorno a Genova , ci ha colto con calore ed informazioni super utili . Altra cosa spettacolare : panorama mozzafiato . Non ci sono parole , bisogna viverlo.

- non ci è piaciuta la posizione. Fattibile ma non il massimo. - piccolo consiglio personale ma non un problema: aggiungere una colazione del posto . Per farci sentire veramente a casa.
