Eyam Cottage - Darwin Lake Holiday Village

Our cottage was located at the end of a row and right on the lake, nice and chill. Beautiful nature walks right on our doorstep. Pitch black at night and all the bats and toads come out. We loved it x Big thanks to the lovely cleaning lady (didn't get her name). Previous guests didn't leave the property until 1.00 (should've been 10.00) and put them behind and under pressure and did their utmost to get us in on time.

We noticed on a couple of walks around the grounds that there was quite a bit of rubbish. Not just rubbish like the kids make because it was school holidays, we saw a big chest freezer, dumped tarpaulin, broken wheelbarrow, rakes, burnt piles of waste, just stuff that we were surprised to see in such a beautiful place.

We have stayed before . Love the location and the property is beautiful

Not the property in general , but at the time of our stay , the whole rest of the holiday village had been booked out by Jews . This wouldnt of been an issue , but it spoilt our stay tbh - I’d bought my elderly parents on a fishing holiday - they constantly fished in our spot outside the cottage , sat on our private bench outside our cottage so we could hardly sit out there - left fishing line all on the front of property - my partner walked into one and had to be unravelled . Also pet friendly cottages our side - so this wasn’t good

We stayed here last year for the 1 st time ever .It has all the basic self catering needs you need , beautifully designed and set out . Beautiful location

Lack of cooking equipment - no large frying pans , no decent cooking spatula or tongues - we cooked all week to save money but found it a little challenging . No tvs in the bedrooms . Option of a hot tub at pet friendly cottages would be nice .

Amazing location, comfortable beds, well equipped downstairs and ground floor layout was good.

One bathroom needed refurbishing. , tiny shower, but it did work. The other was nice, but the shower wasn't safe to use changing from freezing or boiling and back again. The staff looked at it and explained the switch, they needed to label, 'hot water' in the kitchen, had to be on for the water to be hot. Even when it was on constantly it wasn't normal temperature for the remaining 2 days. So we didn't use it.
