Comfortable stay at this great hotel in Beer

Welcoming hotel and staff great. Room 19 was pleasant….

Room 19’’s lighting could be better and the walls seemed thin as heard other people talking early in the am which woke me up….🥲🥲

Nice food and a good sleep but needs further investment

Nice pub great location, efficient staff, nice food. Cody bed but they fell at the final hurdle sadly by having a wardrobe with a whole door missing, lack of usable sockets and a bathroom from out of a Hitchcock movie. Roller blind missing the roller cord, door that needs to be heaved shut so the latch catches, basic taps that overhang the basin by about 1cm 30 year old tiles on the splashback, no toilet roll holder, no towel ring/rail next to the basin, no heated towel rail to dry any towels, an electric shower that fluctuates then just about gets you wet at a decent temperature. I'm totally for a cheaper budget room but unless you provide a bit half decent accommodation you'll always get negative feedback from me, I would genuinely pay more if I'd known what was coming but for a 2 night stopover I'll just get on with it.

Bathroom, wardrobe door, either don't have any doors on it or add the missing door, but to leave one on its not a good first impression, before getting hit by the bathroom which just finishes you off I'm afraid.

Perfectly acceptable - we’re staying again.

Really good feel and location, parking very easy and secure. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was clean, warm (in February) and comfortable.

“Didn’t like” is a bit strong but in our experience anyone sensitive to dog hair should consider specifying one of the dog free rooms and the breakfast -admittedly only one morning sampled - didn’t quite live up to the splendid setting in which it is served.

Lovely short break

Close to the beach you can just park up and not have to worry about driving anywhere

The bathroom shower screen had mould on it and the help handle had someone’s hair and gunk on it

Friendly pub with great breakfast and comfy bed!

Friendly staff and great breakfast! Very comfortable bed so an excellent night 's sleep.

Room was a little tired especially in bathroom, and bed - despite being very comfortable - was quite small. Evening meal was a little disappointing ( discussed with duty manager) but breakfast was great!

Lovely doggy friendly place to stay.

Staff were very friendly, breakfast was amazing. Bed was so comfy. Place was very doggy friendly. Lovely atmosphere and woodburners were great. Easy to park. Great location. Will definitely return.

Slight crack in window and a little cold in our room on arrival. Staff rectified this immediately and we kept the curtains closed so not a problem as they were very thick and blackout which helped.

Lovely pub in an amazing place

The Dolphin has recently had an extensive renovation and it's brilliant. The staff are all amazing and helpful. They have a very big restaurant and the food is lovely and reasonable prices. Room was immaculate with comfortable beds and a great shower.

Great location for a get away

The room was lovely, bed was comfortable, the auto-sign out on the TV for streaming services was very handy. Food was good, location is nice, quiet, and very picturesque with easy links to other places.

Great location with friendly staff

Great location, clean and rooms were very comfortable.

We booked into the restaurant but many items were not available on the menu. Being pescatarian we were left very limited on options which was disappointing. However staff were lovely and did offer us a free drink to compensate.

Very relaxing and a picturesque place.

Location was great, very close to the beach and we walked over the top to Seaton. We had a very nice room in the hotel and appreciated the two armchairs and coffee table.

I would have expected a special menu for New Year's Eve, but the regular menu was OK.

Loved everything. The staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for us, the food excellent and our room comfortable and spotlessly clean. We couldn't have asked for more and have already recommended The Dolphin to friends.

The bed was uncomfortable and small the price £90 was terrible value , things were dirty and broken ( bathroom) the walls were terrible in soundproof and we could hear everything ( and I mean EVERYTHING) next room . It was cold , the shower was a dribble , tiles were cracked in grout , wardrobe missing a door which had been torn off its hinges . I could go on and on but you get the idea !!

Great value, staff and location

Staff were very friendly, showed us to our room and fussed over the dog. The room was clean and tidy and the bed very comfortable. The location was fantastic and parking available.

Could serve more specials/local food in the pub/restaurant. Appreciate it is a chain but seemed a shame not to have seafood specials etc on the menu

The Dolphin didn't disappoint on location, cleanliness or friendliness of staff .

Breakfast was lovely but the cooked breakfast was warm. The room was lovely Yes we could hear music up untill 10.30 but that didn't bother us. The evening meal again was lovely but could have been a tad warmer

Location was great but wouldn't return again to this particular hotel

Location was fantastic

We were too early for check in, we asked to leave our bags securely somewhere. We were told just to leave them on the pub floor and someone would pick them up later which obviously didn't want to do as had quite a few belongings in there so waited for them eventually to take our bags. We got back later on to check in, they had taken the bags up to the room but just left the door unlocked (again laptops, jewellery etc are in the bags!) I understand it's a pub and there will be noise, but our room was obviously positioned above the toilets and the hand dryer was going off every few minutes until late so don't expect to get an early night. Breakfast was a shambles and clearly not enough staff. It doesn't start until 8:30am (which is quite late for a hotel) so EVERYONE came down at the same time. We were the second table in there, no one came to take our order for over half an hour so we had to ask as we needed to leave to get on the road and didn't end up with our hot food until almost an hour of being seated.

Clean, good value, let down by a lack of attention and not getting the simple things right.

Staff were polite and helpful and the service was good. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the smart TV worked well, as did the Wi-Fi. The complimentary biscuits, drinks, coffee, teas, hot chocolate, water, etc. in the room were appreciated. The evening meal I had was served quickly, it was tasty and I was looked after well by the staff. I also really enjoyed the pint of Outland Stout (Badger Brewery) I had with it. The shower worked well and the water was hot, which was nice. The Hotel is very good value in my opinion.

When I called the hotel to ask a question, the call was answered by an AI woman called Polly - AI has its place, but I personally don't think the hospitality sector is a good fit for it, especially not for dealing with guests or customers. However, I did get the answer to my question, all without speaking to a human (perhaps I am a Luddite, also perhaps just Cozzie Livs). The corridor my room was in smelled of smoke, and I could smell the smoke from inside my room, even with the door closed - I let the staff know and the manager came up and confirmed the corridor did indeed smell of cigarette smoke; they said they would look into it. The curtains in my room looked like they were about to fall down and were hanging very un-evenly, so I took them down, re-fixed the hooks so they were evenly distributed, and hung them again - all good now, but this kind of thing should be noticed and fixed by the staff. The light over the sink was not fitted with a bulb - simple to check and fix but not done; again why not? The guests in the room next door seemed to be practising drums on the wall between our rooms, but that did stop after a while - not really the hotel's fault but an indication that it can be noisy (to be fair, his could happen anywhere). The soap dispenser in the shower did not have any soap in it which was not so nice (check, re-fill?). Its a shame because the shower was nice.

A really positive stay. Excellent friendly staff, empowered to solve problems. We had a minor issur which was solved in 5 minutes with no fuss whatever. This how you judge…not when all goes well but how staff solve a problem. These staff were all excellent.

This property and staff exceeded our expectations. From location, to our welcome greeting to the rooms were all fantastic. Steve, the manager went above and beyond, so friendly. The rooms are lovely and spotless and my goodness the beds are so comfortable. Location amazing and the pub was absolutely lovely. food great. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Maybe toilet roll holders in the bathroom would of been nice and my room (24) didn't have a shower just bath and hand held shower head which was a bit of a pain.

Sufficient, but not really good value for money considering the amount we spent.

We didn't have breakfast as was filming for Bargain Hunt programme & had to be at the auction house by 8am. We did book an evening meal in the pub & that was nice.

We had 2 rooms which were both above some kind of external air conditioning/fan unit. Both rooms were wakened by it😴 It didn't help that the opposing BH team stayed in the Anchor & said it was fabulous🤦

Great hotel in a wonderful Location.

This time round I was disappointed by the room I was allocated (no 21) as it was rather basic and the radiator was not working. When mentioned to a member of staff I was quickly offered a much better room for which I was grateful. I stayed in this room in august and it is a lovely room. However there were two repairs that I reported needing fixing (cracked mirror and broken handle in bathroom) and these were still not fixed… hence remedial maintenance attention is clearly lacking ) Hence bit disappointed this time round.

The location was perfect, parking at the hotel. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. Dog friendly, which was great for us. Friendly staff everyone was welcoming.
