What a great little hotel. The opposite of what you'd get at a soulless chain hotel, full of nooks and crannies, old world charm, quirky but comfortable too. We loved the bedroom too, so comfortable. It's just a stones throw from the centre of Exeter, the cathedral and quayside area as well as the catacombs etc. Excellent food too at City Gate and lots of great restaurants to try out nearby too.
Pretty much no downsides. Parking was an issue. Breakfast was gorgeous if a little pricey. Otherwise I couldn't recommend City Gate enough.

Attractive quirky pub, surprisingly quiet in the centre of town. Very helpful and charming staff who sorted out a pricing discrepancy with Expedia for me.
Very comfortable huge bed, good linen and well equipped room and bathroom. Looking just a little tired around the edges now in all honesty but still recommend.
