Out of this world experience, great hospitality, very rare gem

Hands down the best place I stayed with a private host and I stayed in a lot of pllaces! I had to arrive very late and leave early and was accomodated amd felt really cared for. The Lady that rund the Guesthouse is the warmest, most caring and genuine person ever. I felt like at home, like at a perfect home. Thr breakfast was fab, really hotel 5☆ style. The house is lovely, warm, suuuuuuper clean. I stayed in a large room with a beautiful very large bathroom. I was provided with everything I could have needed, from toiletries to bottled water, kettle, tea, coffee... And the bed. The bed and the bedding were really top class, I regrett I didn't check what matress was there, I have not slept so comfortably in a very long time (and I have sciatica, so I am quite fussy). I travel to Belfast occasionally and I will always from now on stay in the Madden Guest House. Thank you for looking after me sooooo well. Marianna

Brilliant place as a base from which to explore Amargh and Down.

Breakfast was a typical Irish style but you can request toast cereals if you’d prefer. Very approachable and friendly host

A warm welcome from an exceptional host.

The warm welcome received from the hosts, nice and clean room, and excellent facilities. The hosts were more than happy to cater for special requests.

It is probably best to speak to the hosts before booking, as not all rooms have ensuite facilities, which is not immediately obvious from the page on booking.com.

Just the kindest hosts! Fabulous roll top bath- I was the only one staying so could indulge. The time is so light and spacious. It was perfect for my night in transit between other places. Tasty breakfast! And a great chat. Thank you!

Don't hesitate to book!

I couldn't fault the service. Margaret went above and beyond to make the stay enjoyable. The chat we had at breakfast was a highlight from my trip.

A personal preference for me: As I have an allergy I would label the biscuits that were left in the room. The packet didn't have allergens and as much as I wanted to nibble on them, I didn't want to chance it. The other granola bar was a peanut bar so a no for me!

An amazing place and fantastic hosts.

Just like being at home..Very pleased and the owners were so kind and amazing hosts. Stevie, Margarets husband made an amazing full breakfast. Watch out Gordan ramsey. 🍳🍳🍳🍳. value for money is rarely seen nowadays. I would highly recommend the Madden to anyone, I know I will certainly be back. Thanks Stevie and Margaret, oh their wee cat was making sure I was ok too😻..

Very good

The location was perfect for me, but that was personal. Maggy is a nice person, for the type of visit that I do this was more then good enough ,clean good bed , shower available and good breakfast in the morning.

Shower good enough for me but not perfect . also I did not see airco in the room, though not a problem for me as the weather was not hot but can be an issue for when it is warmer.

Overall a pleasant stay.

Although the bed linen was clean, the room was somewhat tired and needed to be refreshed. However, the breakfast was well prepared and presented and Margaret joined us every morning for a friendly chat at breakfast.

The eaves in my bedroom was a little too low. Also there was no mirror in my room, and overall, esthetically, a lower standard than the other room.

Maggie and Stevie were most welcoming hosts. Madden House is a charming guesthouse and very good value.

The road traffic can be a little noisy. However, I was so tired after a day's touring that I slept very soundly.
