First time in Dorset

Location was convenient to town & beach front. Room & ensuite was very spacious and clean. Loved that we could open the windows. Breakfast was amazing!

The only issue was the bed was too soft for my back. That is a personal thing, nothing to do with The George.

Very friendly and welcoming owners, the room was warm and clean and beds very comfortable. Also quite area for a good night sleep. Very nice breakfast and parking. Walking distance to the beach as well.

I couldnt have asked for a better place to stay

The staff were excellent made us feel so at home , I travelled with my 88 year old mother for a funeral , she was happy so that made me happy . The value for money was extraordinary , the breakfast was above what you would normally expect . I have recommended this delightful B&B to all my friends and family , it deserves to be recognised for what it is , a delightful little upmarket B&B in a delightful location with amazing staff , thank you for looking after us

Nice place to stay for a short break.

Don’t let the outside of the building put you off. It’s a nice place to stay & have a few days away in. Our room was very clean with lots of room to move around in. It’s not a criticism but it could have done with a comfy chair to sit on. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was lovely too, even down to a sausage for our dog!

I’m sure others have said the same. The entrance to the parking area is very tight with a high curb to drive over, definitely not good for low body cars. While they can’t do much about the actual entrance the steep curb could be rectified.

A great place to stay

We had a perfect stay at the George, a lovely welcome from the host and a very clean and comfortable room with great facilities. Amazing value for money, we had a great full English breakfast in the morning and the staff were wonderful. Would highly recommend staying here

Lovely B&B

The room was a nice size and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast in the morning was lovely as we're the staff who served us.

The toilet and shower room could have been improved. The flooring had tucked up a bit so the door made a noise when opened and closed minor thing.

Superb family friendly stay.

Great location. Friendly & approachable owners. Very dog friendly. Fantastic breakfast (even a sausage for the dog!). Comfortable rooms, with the added bonus of a great little patio area. Very competitive pricing. Free parking. Highly recommended and we will return for another visit.

Great place, great staff, great location, great food - couldn't fault the venue.

Fabulous little b&b, Mike the host greeted us on arrival and gave us the key information before directing us to a folder in our room with all the relevant information plus more. Bedroom was cozy with ample space and additional blankets and a heater, if required. Toilet shower was not ensuit but still private and personal to us with toiletries. Breakfast was brilliant with a great choice of hot items and pasties, yogurts and fruit. Staff were super friendly too!

We will be back in January.

We have stayed at this B&B many times and have always been impressed with it. The added bonus this time was that we had a ground floor room. As I have COPD this was very much appreciated. It was unfortunate that I had trouble breathing next morning and was unable to finish my rather excellent breakfast.

We booked the room at short notice. Having stayed previously the room was everything we expected it to be, and the staff remain as customer focused as ever. It's a decent walk out from the centre but we find that ok. The hotel is quiet.

Professionally-run, charming B&B for a very competitive price - and you can park in its grounds

Very professionally run B&B with charming and helpful staff that go out of their way to help you enjoy your stay. We were able to order in a takeway for dinner and Mike, who runs the George, provided us with a table in the lounge, cutlery and crockery to eat it with. He even tidied away the remains! The room was very nice and at the top of the building, so the view was lovely across the Dorset hills, and everything was provided. Had a great chat with our breakfast waitress who also looks after the rooms. Breakfast was very nice, with real coffee, and decently-sized servings. Would recommend this place!

Only things that could have been better were that the shower seemed to drip a bit when turned off (though maybe I was not turning it off hard enough) and there was no fridge in the room - that could have been helpful. Some people might find the steep stairs a problem but we didn't.

The place was a little dated (does add some charm however). Bed sheets were more like a casual stay at a relatives place, this didn't bother us but may bother those looking for hotel quality sheets.

Wonderful location served by cheerful staff with amazing breakfast

Fantastic location with walkable distance to the beach. The room and toilet was tidy and cleaned. The breakfasts were delicious and the staff were kind and helpful.

The mattress of the temporary bed was less comfortable which makes you feel sleeping on string coils. The pop up chairs could not be poped up with 90 degrees. Better if they can provide disposal sandals as the carpets was a bit matted.

very small room , owner didnt seem to care much i asked for a bottle of water he sent me up the road to the tesco, Breakfast very good but did not appreciate a dog in the breakfast room while people are eating , the breakfast staff very good which took the sting of the owners attitude

Fab time at The George

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and have already booked our next stay! ☺️ Mike and Family and their team were welcoming and so friendly. The accommodation is in a good location a short walk to the beach. It is full of character, clean with the most comfortable beds and the room we stayed in was spacious as was the bathroom. The breakfasts were delicious with alot of choice from cereals, fruit, pastries to full cooked breakfasts. Parking on site which was so helpful. Thanks for a great stay!
