Location, fabulous breakfast, super attentive and friendly staff.
First floor room by the lift and next to the open ceiling to the ground floor, the bar noise late at night and the early morning breakfast set up woke us up and was quite a distraction. Would stay again but would ask to avoid that particular room

The location was perfect for our stay in Bologna. Easy to access everything with a quick walk. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent! The room was tight, but, comfy. Great place to stay if you're planning on enjoying the town, rather than lounging in the room...which, why would you hang out in the hotel room when you're in Bologna?

The staff that we met were all exemplary - friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. I loved the general art/ designer ambience to the hotel and the individually decorated rooms. Ours was a super modern homage to the Olivetti typewriter. There are lots of old photos of Bologna and pieces of modern art throughout the hotel which I liked. Our room was a reasonable size (Rm 305), plenty of storage, huge comfortable bed and a nice shower with toiletries. It was really quiet at night, despite being only 5 minutes from the main square. Great location - the furthest we walked was 25 minutes to Mambo Art Gallery. Everything else was much closer. We appreciated the Prosecco on arrival and the hotel's own G&T. Breakfast was great - hot and cold options in the adjoining restaurant and more Prosecco :-)
It's an old building that's been converted, consequently I noticed a bit of noise from neighbouring rooms (mainly due to the hotel guest having a terrible cough)! However once the earplugs were in, we slept soundly. The interior decoration in our room was getting a bit worn, and I guess at some point, they will need to refurbish everything. Other than that, I would say that it's one of the nicest, quirkiest and convenient hotels I have stayed in.

The location was fantastic, the staff in reception were very helpful
It was a bit expensive but in line with other properties in that area that weekend

Great locations. Friendly staff. Very good breakfast.
Very firm mattress meant I slept badly. We were also on the first floor with no wall or doorway between the bedrooms and reception/lounge area. It was quite loud until about 11pm.

Location superb. Right at the heart of the old town. Staff could not have been more helpful
Room OK, but overlooking the street, so noisy at night. Bathroom OK, but towels old. Shouldn't have had to ask for toilet rolls to be renewed. Breakfast average - bread rolls and croissants ran out without being replaced; scrambled eggs left too long before being refreshed; little fresh fruit (in Italy!). Because of the modest quality of the breakfast, never tried the hotel restaurant for dinner ... not a problem ... lots of excellent restaurants nearby.

Location middle of the city. Decoration in the room fun and whimsical. Great breakfast. Lovely front desk staff
Car free area means it’s a bit of a walk to find taxis. Buses work great

Amazing, central location. Great breakfast. Sizable room.
Our room on the 4th floor was like sleeping in someone's attic. The dark, gymnasium blue wall color, weird dark and silver covering on the ceiling, slanted ceilings, very noisy windows/window treatment, and large mirror at the head of the bead just gave the room a creepy and very dark feeling. The room was generally clean except for the mold in the shower. We also came back after dinner one night to find one of the employees in our unlit bathroom, claiming that he was checking on the air conditioning. It felt very uncomfortable. We confirmed later with someone at the front desk that they were checking on the AC, but he basically said it was our fault for not putting out the 'do not disturb' sign if we didn't want anyone in our room. The parking garage was also a headache to get in an out of. So tiny, and you had to have a staff member escort you to and from your parking space. The last fun thing was that the only elevator was out of order for the last two days of our stay, so walking up and down five flights (because the lobby is floor 0) was not fun, especially with luggage.

The location is perfect - convenient to the city center but on a relatively quiet street. Breakfast each morning was excellent - very friendly staff and a good variety of food. The room size was pretty standard for European hotels.
Honestly, there was nothing negative about my stay. The property was as described and I wasn't unpleasantly surprised by anything. The elevator was out of service for part of my stay, but this was a very minor inconvenience.

Location stellar, staff very helpful , accommodating, friendly, knowledgeable . Very nice experience, room charming, uniquely decorated with playful images This formerly the Red Hat hotel is a unique experience. I definitely recommend.
Each room is decorated by an artist given free rein . My room was charming; yellow hued fantastical creatures playing around the room along walls and ceiling. Bilbaobol? Very fun to wake up to.
Was sick from nasty cold one day/ night , hotel room service, restaurant accommodated by making a broth tortellini pasta soup for me. Delicious.
Highly recommend this hotel . Room included an excellent breakfast , fresh choices, high quality. This hotel takes pride in what they do.
Everything was wonderful.

A friendly front desk host was available for check-in, and we were offered a nice glass of prosecco and snacks while we waited for our rooms. They took our luggage up to our rooms for us. Air conditioning worked great in our rooms. Located near shops and restaurants.
It was difficult to drive into the streets to drop off our luggage and we had to park about a mile away from the hotel.

excellent location, helpful staff, v good restaurant too - made a busy business trip all that much easier
not much - access to a gym can be useful when on business trips, but appreciate it is challenging when in old properties in the centre of Bologna

There was NOTHING that I liked about this property.
Everything; I didn't like the company's refundable policy.

Perfectly located in the heart of the city, with incredibly helpful reception staff that made our stay even more enjoyable.
The room was too small, and unfortunately, my wife got sick right after eating breakfast on the second day.

Location; apartment-style room; excellent continental breakfast
Some fittings tired/broken - in need of some refurbishment
7.0 / 10.0
The staff was helpful and very efficient. The location is excellent for exploring the historic city center. Taxis can pick up and drop off in front of the hotel. A huge plus for those with early morning or late arriving flights. The room was clean and decorated with a lobster theme - fun.
I was very uncomfortable upon arriving in the lobby and seating area. There were multiple images of the racist Italian cartoon character Bilbolbul hung on the walls. While the character has been updated from the original, the concept and story line are offensive nonetheless. For this reason, I cannot rate Phi Hotel highly.

Location was perfect and although it was so close to Piazza Maggiore it was quiet
Very nice breakfast
No outside sitting space otherwise it would have been perfect
8.0 / 10.0
We stayed in one of the apartments, which provided plenty of space - especially by European hotel standards. The location was perfect for exploring Piazza Maggiore, Quadrilatero Market and Mercato delle Erbe, along with countless restaurants.
The counter space in the bathroom is minimal, and the air conditioning unit is in the living room - so you don’t get the benefit of the air con in the bedroom while sleeping if you close the door (which you need to do if you want blackout sleeping conditions).

Great location
Our rental bikes could be stored in the underground garage
WiFi was of good quality
Lounge was bright
Rental bike shop was a few meters away with great service
Apartment did not look like photos on the website: bedroom was very dark, bathroom smelled of drain and one light was dysfunctional
Breakfast was very average
A little too pricey for the quality
