The catalyst for us choosing to stay at the Ferry Inn, Scrabster was our planned day-trip to Orkney. (Highly recommended by the way). The Inn is walking distance to the Ferry terminal and the attaching restaurant (The Upper Deck) was a terrific option for dinner both nights we stayed.
The room was comfortable, but basic with two single beds…
Like any accommodation in a hotel (pub) in the UK or Outer Hebrides, the bedrooms are upstairs. While this isn’t a significant issue if you are travelling light, it’s a bit different if you’re away from home for 6+ weeks and have quite a bit of luggage with you. Lugging this upstairs at each and every stay wears thin after a period.

Very close to ferry so that we could go to the Orkney Islands.
Staff couldn’t do enough for us. They were so lovely and helpful especially the lady that checked us in. Very bubbly and happy.
Room was nice and quite.
We were in room 7.
Shower was very small.
The tap was extremely hard to turn on.
Several of the lights were not working
Room was on top floor and it was a spiral staircase which I didn’t like.

Warm welcome with friendly service. We enjoyed dinner which was excellent value. It is very convenient for the ferry - 1 minute away!
Rooms are functional rather than luxurious. But it was perfectly OK with good tea and coffee making facilities and a complimentary tipple of whisky!

Staff was very friendly. Location was perfect for getting the ferry the next day after arriving by train.
We were given a twin room when our original booking was for a double bed. It’s a small place and we assumed it was all that was available and didn’t make a fuss about it. Also the restaurant food — which I’m not sure is under control of the hotel — was sub par.
