Terrible

Unfortunately, my experience at this property was disappointing. Upon arrival, we were not informed in advance about the self check-in, and we ended up standing outside the door at 11 p.m., our scheduled arrival time, without any code to access the room. Once inside, we found that the room was not properly cleaned: the bathroom fixtures were dirty, the shower was already partially broken, and there were visible damp stains and infiltrations, suggesting poor maintenance. On the second evening, the shower stopped working completely, and despite notifying the host, we did not receive any response. Since it was our last night, it wasn’t possible to fix the issue, but a minimum level of attention toward guests would have been appreciated.

Avoid! Bedbugs.

Initially the room was what I expected for the price. Basic and bed comfortable.

As I was driving home I began to itch. When I finally got home I discovered I was covered in bites. These have now got worse and I’m on antibiotics as I’ve reacted badly. Confirmed as bedbug bites by my GP. I stayed in room 5.

Cheap and convenient

Convenient location with free car parking. Easy check in at an agreed time. Clean bed linen, towels and toiletries. Comfortable bed.Tea and coffee making facilities in room.

Soft furnishings needed a clean. Walls had some marks that should have been cleaned. En-suite shower room was looking a bit tired.

There’s budget and then there’s Harris Guest House

Staff were somewhat friendly on arrival, they responded to my message about parking the next day- didn’t include any actual info/directions however. It’s around 30 min walk to the centre so it’s in a fairly good location.

This place has seen better days, the paint was falling off the walls, all the furniture cracked scuffed and marked. Stains on the pillows and the towels. So much mould in the shower and the shower itself didn’t really work, a very small amount of water runs and it runs extremely cold or hot and then stops running all together, I gave up in the end and just had a wash in the sink. The heating was on all night which meant the room was far too warm, we turned the radiator off but the valve must have been broken because it was hot all night. There was a window which we had open even though there was rubbish stacked up high outside it but it didn’t do much for the heat and there is no ventilation and its small. We were on the ground floor so you can hear everyone and the traffic, we were woken up at 5am when someone came in and then multiple times after. The car park is tiny and difficult to park in there is probably room for maximum of 3-4 small vehicles, there was lots of rubbish in the carpark also and it didn’t feel safe or secure, I also have a new scuff on my car as I imagine someone scraped it trying to get out as it’s so tight and awkward.

I am extremely unhappy with the room I paid for. It was not compliant with fire risk building regulations, health and safety but also was extremely dirty. The window(fire escape) had no handle, a power socket was held together with sellotape. The tiles, grout, woodwork were very dirty indeed. I have photograph’s if you would like me to send them. I would like a full refund please.

Cheap, fair, really comfortable bed, and close to city centre

We had a really friendly reception from staff, easy to find the hotel and parking was free. The bed was firm but that was a relief after too-soft beds in other hotels! Wifi was fast and we could stream, and it was around a 1-2 mile walk into the centre so great location. Water pressure in the shower was excellent, and there was tea and coffee and a fan available.

It was tired (but cheap, so fair enough) and a bit of noise from the estate at the back. Bit of condensation on the glasses, but it was a warm room - - and to combat, we had a fan, so can't really complain!

Even though there was a mishap which meant we had to leave the place early, the parson managing it dealt with the refund

It has private parking and communal fridge even though there is no breakfast so storing items in the fridge was handy

Not a bargain

Bus route into town is useful. Car park available though very crowded at night and blocked in by white vans. Cleaner was very helpful but no-one else ever on site

Room was 9' by 9', half the advertised size. Couldn't close the bathroom door if inside. But room gave straight on to carpark at ground level so couldn't safely leave the window open in hot weather. Shower head is broken and leaks in two places. Water varied from cold to dangerously hot then stopped completely.

Good for getting into Oxford city. Quick on bus or not too far to walk.

Small room and tiny bathroom. Bathroom was old and dated. Shower was dirty looking (probably cleaned but with old stains.) and we didn’t use it (only there for one night. Other residents were noisy and banged around at midnight but that’s not the fault of the guest house.

The room was nice and comfortable. The host kindly upgraded us on this occasion which gave us a bit more space and seperate beds.

The cups had tea/coffee rings in them so had not been cleaned. There weren't any tea bags only coffee but I had brought my own. The shower door didn't shut properly so the floor was under water after a shower. The bathroom could really do with a scrub and a reseal.

Good position . Walked to city centre. About 25min. Offstreet parking. Clean and nice beds.

Not what we expected. No window in room. Nowhere to put a suitcase. No plug for cellphone. No shelf in shower. Bathroom light fused. No view. Only one bedside table for 2 beds. No switch on bedside light. (If you move it it goes on !) No bathroom shelves.

The bedroom and bathroom were clean and sufficient. This is a no frills property and that is what we were expecting. Car parking is a little tight but we managed to park the car off the street each night, a bonus in Oxford!

Nothing we left after the first night we should have left straight away from the first impression it was dismal when we got inside it was discusting bathroom needed condemning the room was awful nothing good to say avoid at any cost ☹️
