Beware of the difficult steps to reach this accommodation and poor conditions overall

The view is very beautiful

The only way to access this property is via the VERY STEEP Oia steps which are extremely unsafe for small children and those with mobility issues. These are not the average steps located within the village of Oia but the huge slippery steps that are regularly used by donkeys and hikers to access Ammoudi Bay. If you stay here you can expect to walk 80+ massive stairs each way to access the main village of Oia. This major detail is not transparent in the listing description and needs to be stated to all travelers prior to booking. Also, the porter service provided by the host was careless with our luggage and broke off one of the wheels during the transfer. This was a huge inconvenience for us being in such a remote location and there was no acknowledgement or apology of the error made by the host. This to me was very poor customer service. Lastly, the cleanliness of the property is not acceptable. The decks were filled with hundreds of tiny bugs that made it difficult to enjoy spending time outside (which should have been the highlight of this accommodation). There should be better maintenance of the property for travelers paying such a high price. Of note, none of the other surrounding accommodations seemed to have this issue because they regularly had people caring for the property.

Simple, tasteful, comfortable, unpretentious luxury surrounded by breathtaking beauty

This property was an incredible experience. The spacious comfortability of the home, the rooftop seating, the patio seating, the views… it was wonderful and we don’t have a single regret about staying here. I’ve noticed reviews saying it’s outdated and not luxurious, and I disagree, which just shows that these things come down to personal preference. It was just what a Greek experience should be, when surrounded by such breathtaking beauty: simple, tasteful, comfortable, unpretentious. If anything, the only thing I missed was a plunge pool or something like that to cool off, but it’s not a criticism, as it clearly wasn’t listed on the property. Thanks for having us!

Santorini may be beautiful, but beauty doesn’t cushion a fall—or bad hospitality. Our arrival at the hotel was more obstacle course than welcome. The stairs leading down were steep, slick, and downright dangerous. I slipped, crashed onto my back, and lay there stunned with my luggage sprawled around me. The manager, who was ahead of us, turned to glance at the scene… then kept walking. No “Are you okay?” No offer of help. Just cold indifference. That was my first clue: we’d booked the wrong place. Later, when I asked for an Italian restaurant recommendation, he claimed there were none nearby. That would’ve been believable—if we hadn’t passed several on foot. Either he didn’t know his own neighborhood, or he couldn’t be bothered. Neither option inspires confidence. The view? Yes, it’s the one redeeming feature. But even that comes with a catch: every morning, tourists wander onto the property to snap their photos, turning our supposed retreat into a public lookout. And then there’s the donkey stench. The path outside is a parade of poop and pungency. It’s not the hotel’s fault, but it adds to the overall sense that this place is more hassle than haven . If you’re looking for a stay that matches the postcard fantasy, keep looking. This one’s all downhill—literally and figuratively

Serenity

Amazing! The views are expectacular. This place is isolated from the crowds, and you can experience the best sunset in Santorini from the porch and the roof. There are about 80 steps to get to the villa. It's a little tiring but worth the effort. Just remember to buy groceries and water before you get there. Once you are there, you will not want to leave. I had an excellent time in Santorini

It was spacious and comfortable and had an excellent sea view. The roof was also fantastic with a sofa and lounge chairs.

The location was not very convenient. It is downhill and nearby facilities are not available. It is also inaccessible to anyone who struggles with staircases.

Beautiful location at the bottom of many steps but the view of the sea and the white buildings were spectacular. Beautiful sunsets in prime setting

Furniture old. Photos made it look very stylish but was disappointing when we arrived and smelt. Breakfast inedible. Tried it first day, didn't eat it 2nd day, didn't bother ordering 3rd day. One review said it advertised TV and robes. None of these were here. Went end of season so can only imagine how many annoying people would stand in front of the wall on your private terrace while you are sitting on it. Needs to have a gate so people cannot do this.

Superb

The primary reason to rent this place is for a private unobstructed view of the Oia sunset and the mountain side with the picturesque Santorini houses/white buildings that are so popular. This hotel has several places to sit outside including a table and chairs, loungers, and another bench/table. The breakfast was incredibly tasty as well (you get a menu and can order the day before). Finally, Fitim was an incredibly responsive and helpful host who assisted with baggage on arrival/departure, and everything else in between. In short, he was great.

Water pressure and hot water were low/poor throughout; after we'd bathe our kids there would be little left over for us. Beware if you are sharing with many people. Beware of the steps - the work to get down and up to this unit is real. Also donkeys are regularly carrying people up and down, so you have to be careful not to step in their poop which is an additional hassle. But ultimately, it is still worth it.

The perfect stay

Absolutely stunning villa with breathtaking views. When the crowds gather to watch the sunset, grab a wine and head up to the roof terrace to watch it from the comfort of your sun lounger - you’ll feel so smug 😊 Set in a very quiet location guaranteeing a good nights sleep. Breakfast of your choosing delivered every morning at a time of your choice, however there is a small oven in the villa meaning you can heat your breakfast up if you don’t want it there and then. Tim, who manages the villa, is only a text away and is always on hand with any issues. We were there when there was a huge overnight storm and lots of mud had come down from above onto the terrace, sun loungers etc. We messaged Tim who came down straight away with his power washer and cleaned the whole lot - it was as good as new once he’d finished! We were amazed at the price we paid for this villa compared to the much more expensive hotels. This is far, far superior in my opinion.

The best location for privacy and VIEWS

The good: the views, villas layout, location, good breakfasts, the locale handler Tim. Everything was professionally presented. Tim helped us with luggage, it was a BIG deal because the location is hard to reach with lots of stairs. But we knew that. Stairs mean high elevation and fantastic views. The villas has a very private setting. It's all by itself and not attached to any other structure or lodging. Breakfast is delivered daily and included gigantic box of tasty bread and pastries, fresh OJ, jam and butter, choice of different omelette, and yogurts/pudding. Even French toast or pancakes! Nespresso machine in house delivered us our daily espresso. Morning breakfast in the front patio was a wonderful treat... with views of Oía sprawling in front and the Aegean sea cradling the cliff. Air-conditioning unit is a plus for those with summer bookings. We enjoy the beautiful Oia sunset in each evening sitting on the lounge chair on the spacious deck. This is one of the nicest lodging in one of the most beautiful location.

Great Villa !

The location is perfect, really quiet, with no neighbours nearby and with a great view. You only have a short climb of around 2-3 mins, on some stairs, to reach the busy part of Oia. The host was really helpful and nice, he also recommended some nice restaurants and beaches. The breakfast was also great and plentiful. I strongly recommend the property for anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Santorini.

Best sunset view in Santorini

The Domus Solis Villa was better than I had envisaged. I had booked the stay as a 50th birthday present for my mother and it was perfect. The view from the outside is breathtaking with an unparalleled view of the famous Santorini sunset. If you are looking for something special, the Domus Solis Villa will not disappoint!

Nothing could have been better on our trip. As noted in other reviews which I had read prior to booking, there are steps down to the villa which are steep, however, adequate footwear should eliminate any issues.

Increibles vistas, pero es vivir en un piso 15 por escalera

La vista es increible, tanto del mar, de los atardeceres como de la caldera de Santorini. Es lo mejor que tiene el alojamiento, su terraza y sus vistas.

Es vivir en un piso 15 por escaleras. Llegar con las valijas y sin ayuda del host fue una pesadilla. Para salir y volver a tu alojamiento lo tienes que pensar 2 veces. La vivienda está ubicado en la zona más baja de la caldera, por lo que si quieres ir al supermercado y volver, es toda una aventura agotadora.
