I enjoyed Julie and Chris's Friendliness and helpfulness throughout my stay. I was up for the weekend to attend a RAF Mountain rescue reunion and wanted a pleasant, not too large, hotel/guesthouse in the region and .... it was a great choice in all ways, for my needs
Did not have any cause to stop and think of that, or need to find any reason for asking

Great homebase for exploring North Wales
It was well located just off the main road. The hosts were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The food was good each morning. And the room was clean and comfortable.

The warm, friendly ambiance of Garth Dderwen, created by Chris and Julia, made this a perfect base.
The welcome was warm and cheerful, the bed was very comfortable and the poached eggs were the best on the planet. Yes, I was very pleased with Garth Dderwen and will visit again.
Nothing: very satisfied

Cosy like at home
It is the best hotel you can imagine. The owner told: don’t worry, we will take care about you! And they did. In everything. The feeling was that we are not at hotel but visiting grandparents. We are happy that choose this hotel.

A beautiful location with a warm welcome, but let down by a few basic service issues
Fantastic location, friendly host, and a very comfortable night's sleep. Breakfast was ok
We arrived in the late afternoon after a long six-hour drive from Hertfordshire. After unpacking, my wife and I decided to enjoy a bottle of Prosecco in the lovely entrance garden. Around 7pm, we got ready and headed out for dinner, unaware that most restaurants and bars in Betws-y-Coed close their kitchens by 8pm.
To our disappointment, we walked up and down the main road, checking hotel after hotel and restaurant after restaurant, but were unable to find anywhere still serving food. In desperation, we ended up purchasing a ready meal from a nearby shop, only to return to the hotel and discover that, although there is a microwave in the kitchen, guests are not allowed to use it. Unfortunately, we had no choice but to throw the meal away, and we spent a miserable, hungry first night.
I believe the early restaurant closing times should be communicated to guests upon check-in, especially considering the hotel's policy that does not allow guests to use the kitchen facilities or to facilitate this service. This information would be particularly useful for late arrivals.
Another disappointing issue was the lack of toilet paper. Upon arrival, our bathroom had virtually none left. We didn’t think much of it initially, assuming there would be spare rolls in the room or that housekeeping would restock them the next morning. However, this was not the case. On our second morning, we had to rely on searching our luggage’s for tissues. While having breakfast, we even witnessed another guest going into the kitchen to request toilet paper—clearly also frustrated.
Being able to heat a basic meal and having adequate toilet paper in the bathroom are essential expectations, especially at a four-star property. If daily housekeeping isn’t provided, then at the very least rooms should be stocked with extra supplies to avoid such inconveniences. These are basic standards of guest experience, and unfortunately, the lack of them made it hard for us to consider returning in the...

Really great. Looking forward to being able to go back some time
The help with planning good walks, provision of local knowledge, great breakfasts
It was such a joy to stay here! we were here for 5 nights. The hosts were so warm and helpful, and were a great source of information about things to do. breakfasts were delicious. The Victorian house is well appointed with many thoughtful details. It’s in a great location in the center of town. It had the feel of visiting the comfortable home of good friends.

Fabulous place to stay with wonderful hosts
Julie & Chris were excellent hosts and so accommodating. They have a great knowledge of the area and suggested lots of things to do. They really made it a great stay,
I stayed in the single compact room downstairs which was perfect for my requirements. There is also a lounge next door which is available to use, should you require a little more room.
Full English Breakfast was delicious with real coffee and homemade bread. There were also hot waffles, fruit and cereal. It was lovely to chat with the other quests each morning.
Perfect for visiting Snowdon, Devils Kitchen, Llandudno etc. We ate at 'Ty Gwyn Inn' which is a lovely pub with lots of character, food is great.
I will definitely be going back.

Fabulous location for exploring north Wales, scenery fantastic, superb hosts and all our expectations exceeded.
The property was in a good location central to lots of pubs and restaurants in betws -y-coed but calm at the same time as it is in a side street to the main road. The hosts, Chris and Julie are fab and go above and beyond to make you stay a pleasant one. There are several breakfast options and being vegan we had plenty of choice to set us up for the day.
Nothing to dislike. Best B&B we’ve stayed in.

Top class, convenient place to stay with hosts who couldn’t do enough to help you!
The property was excellent! An old style building slap bang in the middle of Betsy, with off street parking to boot. Julie and Chris were great hosts and were very keen to ensure each of our days were maxed to the fullest extent. Fab breakfasts, comfortable beds all in the middle of some of the most spectacular scenery you could imagine. Zipworld and Snowdon but a 20 minute drive, loads of decent eateries in town and enough outdoor adventure shops to spend a month or two’s wages! Great place to stay.
Nothing - great hosts!

The most wonderful hosts, and a perfect stay in Wales
I absolutely loved my stay here! Julie and Chris were beyond amazing – truly the sweetest couple hosts I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I travel monthly, and it’s been such a long time since I’ve experienced a stay this lovely. You both made it unforgettable for us – my friend and I were honestly in awe.
The location is perfect – just a short walk to all the best restaurants, bus stops, the train station, shops, and everything what's possibly needed.
The rooms were adorable and cozy, with thoughtful little treats like Haribo, teas, hot chocolate, and biscuits. Every little part of our stay was just perfect. Another story is about breakfasts - wow!! Absolutely amazing, and we could choose what we want as well as time, and Julia and Chris would be already making the brekkie for us!
Thank you sm!!! We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Wales!

The perfect stay for hiking Yr Wyddfa
Julie was a fantastic host, so knowledgeable, kind and welcoming, even though we arrived late due to a delayed ferry. The house itself is in an excellent location. Close to the village, ample parking and the perfect base to hike Yr Wyddfa and explore the area. The breakfast was excellent and great to have full vegan options for my friend. The beds are so comfy and cosy after being in the hills all day. Shower was excellent.

I recently stayed at Garth Dderwen in Betws-y-Coed, and it was a highlight of my trip!
The charming guest house offered a warm welcome and exceptional hospitality. My room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a lovely view. Breakfast was a treat, featuring delicious full English breakfast.
The location is perfect—quiet yet close to local attractions. The owners were incredibly helpful, sharing tips on hidden gems in the area.

First Class. Will book again on my next visit to the area. My stay was perfect.
Excellent central position in the village with off road parking. The staff were very friendly, helpful, polite and professional. You could not find a better place. Staff also very knowledgeable about the area. The property is full of character and an excellent breakfast was served in a lovely breakfast room. Congratulations to the owners for running such an excellent business.
Nothing could be better. Of course, price is always an issue but I think we were charged a fair price for the accomodation and services provided.

From the moment we arrived the welcome was warm. Good info on surrounding area. Breakfast excellent and our grandson very well catered for. Good quality beds and bed linen.

Friendly with good food. Clean and tidy but room and facilities awkward. Description misleading.
Food and service was good. The rooms were all clean.
The described 'bathroom' was only a small shower room with sink and loo - no bath!
It was also on the floor below (first floor) down steep stairs with low ceiling so difficult to get to.
The bedroom was on second floor which involved a number of steep stairs both up and down and low ceiling towards our room. The description on Booking.com didn't mention these points. My partner and I are both senior citizens and weren't expecting to have to encounter the above issues.

Very good
Very kind people, doing their utmost best to make you feel at home. Lots of information about the surroundings. Excellent breakfast.
The rooms and bathroom are ok but pretty small. The house is a charming elder house brought to modern standards, but all a bit small. Combining rooms would be a possible improvement to this point.

Home from Home
Excellent hosts with plenty of advice on what do / where to go in the area. Very well located right in the centre of Betws-y-Coed just off the main road. Comfortable residents' lounge (which we used in the evening) and dining room available for take-away meals if required. Pretty much a nice "home-from-home" for guests requiring a few nights or longer stay.
Very little really. The room was hot at night - summer weight bedding would have been good as an alternative to the duvet supplied (but this is an issue in almost all accommodation during the summer!)

Very nice place in Snowdonia
Very nice house. Good advices provided by Chris.
Good breakfast cooked each morning.
Small parking and places available in front of the house.
Nice garden that you can enjoy in a sunny day.
Room a little bit tiny with a large luggage. however, room is nice and we managed it.

A relaxing stay in a welcoming house, situated in a beautiful village.
Exceptionally helpful and welcoming hosts. Thanks to Chris and Julie I managed to do two fantastic long scrambles in Snowdonia National Park. The info given by them was perfect! And the house is very cosy and friendly.

Totally loved this place and had a wonderful time making great memories there.
Lovely hosts who are quite welcoming and super informative about things to do (especially hikes of different sorts, our chief interest), charming house, and great location in town as well as a good base for seeing the area. Great breakfast too!
Loved it all. If you’re tall, you’ll feel a little cramped on headspace if you’re on the top floor (the shower will be tight too). But none of that mattered, given the charm of the place and the hosts.
