what we expected from a budget hotel, basic but nice, clean and good breakfast, close the the highway as we were just taking the night to continue our journey onto holiday. good value for money, small but also for a small price. but very clean and friendly staff.

Convenient location and friendly staff.

Reception staff was particularly friendly and helpful. Room had everything you need, including hair dryer, and was very clean. Wifi was easy to connect to. Located next to a supermarket and a restaurant so food options are also covered. There is a tram to the city and the S-bahn station is also located within walking distance (15 minutes). Many nice forests nearby to walk through, and also a cycle path to the city.

there is a mismatch between booking.com. I paid for breakfast for all guests when selecting room choice (with OR without breakfast) that came through to hotel as only adults in booking have breakfast. therefore had to pay extra 10euro for 2 children. it doesn’t break the bank but it is principle of it. I am double paying for something that bookings.com say is included. haven’t heard from bookings.com. they have pocketed the money.

Free Parking lot just at the building. Easy automated check-in

TV in the room wasn’t working. Room for 2 persons has 2-nd level bed for the 3-rd person and it’s uncomfortable. Also basin is located just in the main room.

Disappointing

We’ve stayed at Ibis Budget hotels many times. It’s good value for money and ok for a stop on the road. This time in Karlsruhe however the room was dirty. The toilet smelled like pee and we found other people’s hair on the sheets, sink, etc. The room had not been cleaned properly and did not meeting the Ibis standards, which is obviously disappointing

Budget means Budget

The cleaning staff were very nice. We were given fresh towels and rugs every morning. They always greeted us with a smile. Although we never used the breakfast area, it looked clean and nicely stocked. I really liked that Aldi was within walking distance. Also, the bus stop was directly out front.

The front desk staff, especially the morning staff, were overly protective of the breakfast area. It was bitterly cold during our stay. Sometimes, our group would have to wait on our driver. There isn't a designated lobby to wait in. We would wait on 2 small chairs near the desk. There were 6 of us. The front desk staff was very adamant that we didn't take one step near the empty breakfast area. We were extra cautious after the first morning, but she watched us very closely and still scolded us almost every morning. Several of the shower drains didn't drain properly, leaving us in standing dirty water.

Bad bed and loud street

The bed was like sleeping on a carton board. The hotel was in a very busy street where sounded like we're in a fast an furious movie. The only positive about the stay wasthe American dinner around the corner, which had a good beer though. €80 was way to much for what we got..

Not a happy experience

There was a good breakfast. The hotel was clean and tidy

we arrived at the hotel at 2.50 pm, what we were not told is it would be shut. There were instructions in a lobby to get you into the hotel. As we are elderly we don’t always fully understand technology and in the end had to get help from the on call manager who in fairness was helpful. when we got to the room I was somewhat surprised at the size, small doesn’t really give you the right impression, but you can’t swing a cat. I never expect to have a shower in the BEDROOM with just a frosted glass for modesty, I don’t know who designed the rooms and furniture but I suggest they see an optician. I know this is a budget hotel but at over 90 euros I expect a lot lot more. we were told the hotel would be closed at 10pm so I made sure I was back before that time, it was still closed.

It's clean and close to the highway. And we had a good breakfast.

Everything was fine. It's a budget hotel and that is what you get.

Middle of prostitution zone

- The hotel is conveniently located in close proximity to the autobahn. Just don't arrive later in the evening (see below). - Messages are responded to within reasonable time (usually within 24 hours).

- When arriving later in the evening (in our case 23:00) from the autobahn, you will find lots of scarcely dressed ladies waving you a warm welcome to the industrial estate where the hotel is located. That is, if they're not occupied with some dodgy looking clientele. - The secure parking in the back of the hotel is limited. When full, you have to park on the street side further down the industrial estate. - It's a proper budget hotel with nobody on-site after 21:30. You can ring for assistance, but the person is off-site and can only assist you with the check-in machine and not with parking questions. - The above meant we didn't feel we could securely leave our car behind fully packed with luggage (as one has when travelling with small children). Given the short stay, we didn't want to fully unload the car in the evening and repack the car in the morning so we continued our journey to our final destination throughout the night. - Please note the hotel has no separate beds available for small children, so you will need to bring your own.
