The property stinks of cigerette smell. And when asked for a non-smoking room, what was given was a room with old cigerette butt which was not cleaned up. No response from the property to do anything about it as well.

Central location, clean and huge room, friendly staff and good breakfast.

Lots of character in the lounge and dining rooms of this hotel. I ran out of time to use the free bicycles alas. Only problem was that their own booking system automatically changes any booking for 1 to 2 people, so I had to book here to get a single room! Top floor was nice and quiet even on Friday night.

I booked this hotel due to its location and the ability to get breakfast in the morning, which their website and this listing both said was offered. Big mistake!! Apparently this hotel has new management and they haven't offered breakfast here for months. On top of that, their housekeeping is lacking. I noticed accumulations of dust in corners of the room, which I feel is par for the course at older hotels, but it's clear that they also hadn't vaccuumed or mopped under the bed in a while as there were obvious dust bunnies under the bed. The other areas of the room and the bedding were all clean and it is my fault for not looking under the bed until the end of my trip, but come on! I visited Karlsruhe during a heatwave and, while I wasn't expecting there to be AC in the room, a fan would have been much appreciated. I've been in other old hotels without AC and they've all provided a fan to help cool the room. Even having the ability to leave the window tilted open would have been beneficial. The only options for the window were to leave it wide open or closed and being on the first floor with an escape ladder within easy reach of my window I did not feel comfortable leaving my window open while I wasn't in the room, which only added to the warmth that gathered in the room while I was out. It was also rather odd that they had a small bar fridge, but even though the fridge was plugged in it clearly didn't work anymore. The one thing going for this place is that the staff were all really nice and presentable. However, I still would not recommend staying here. Overall it's just not worth it. Go elsewhere.
