Funky beach B&B

The room had a great view and it was wonderful to watch people with children and pets play on the beach. Coffee was terrific. Hosts were charming.

Most of the furniture is what we would call "curbside castoffs" those items that still have life, but need some TLC. Room was cold because the transom window could not be closed. Toilet seat was damaged, as was the bathtub wall. A facility in need of a good scrub and some serious maintenance. Got a feeling it would make for a great Hitchcock type movie location.

Broken window catches. Empty shower gels. Tacky bedside drawers. A breakfast containing 1 bacon rasher.1 sausage. 1 egg. 1 mushroom and a teaspoon of beans. And lastly we paid £138 for the experience. Yes... For 1 night..

Pleasant stay. Friendly staff. Comfy and clean.

First impression of the room and view was a wow factor. The view from our room overlooking the beach was superb and the addition of 2 comfy chairs and a coffee table in the bay window was lovely. You could see that the room had been cleaned to a high standard. We both slept really well, the bed was very comfy and you could smell the clean fresh bed linen. It was great in the mornings to sit in the chairs by the window watching the world go by while having your morning cuppa before brekkie. It looked like the carpet/flooring in our room was new, maybe in the stages of being refurbed. In the wardrobe there were plenty of hangers if you were staying long enough to need them, but not enough drawer space (not that it was a problem for us as we were only staying 2 nights). There was plenty of choice for breakfast from cereal, fresh fruit, toast and the cooked breakfast was adequate. It was smoked bacon, which I don't like, and when I asked Sam if they had any un-smoked I could have for tomorrows brekkie I was told that Tim only likes smoked so that was all he bought (maybe I should have bought myself a pack from the Spar shop a 2 minute walk away and asked for it to be cooked for me the following morning hahaha). Apart from that, breakfast was good. It is only a short walk to the station if you want to travel without driving. Which was great for our day in Ballymoney.

Now for the negatives, which I must stress were only superficial and would not stop us from staying here again if they'd have us after my review. Although the room was comfy and very clean, there were problems with the windows in the bathroom and the bay window. The bay windowsill was rotten in one corner which had created a hole which the cold draft came through. We ended up bunging it with tissue. Also the window seal on the top opening window must have been worn as that window also let the cold wind in. The window in the bathroom had the seal actually hanging down from it. This again allowed the draft in. All in all the windows were in need of repair or replacing. The good weather had broken on weekend we stayed and it was blowing a hoolie with rain blowing horizontally, therefore the condition of the windows did affect our comfort while sitting in the window, or using the bathroom as the heating was not on. The fittings in the bathroom were very dated and the metal ones were rusty. All that said, the room and bathroom fixtures was very clean and comfortable.

Good location.

Breakfast was terrible. Smelt like burnt rubber. Inedible. Bread was fusted. We had to leave a full fry. Very disappointed! Windows in the bedroom and bathroom were broken and didn't close properly. Wind howled through them all night. Not suitable for disabled people. All upstairs. No lift.

Parking was a big issue. It was on street parking and had to find a spot which is difficult when the town is busy. It is free parking, if you park on the right street. Breakfast is only from 830 to 930.

50 th Wedding anniversary stay.

Breakfast was good made by host and location on first floor ensuite facing the harbour and beach. Host own pictures help the place . Portrush getting read for the Northwest 200 motorbike races in May. Golf open in July.

They weather was good on the day we arrived. But the second day a bit wet but that is the usual weather.

Owner was rude. Did not want to let us in after we had communicated by phone and email about arriving outside of check in times. Bathroom shower handle was rusted. Mattress springs were protruding into my back causing restless sleep.

We very much enjoyed our stay in Portrush.

The property is in a great location with spectacular views! Walk out the front door and you are on the beach front. The host was very attentive and very helpful with suggestions for meals and things to do and seemed genuinely concerned with how our stay went.

One of the rooms that we rented was on the top floor and i'm pretty tall and bumped my head a bit on the slanted ceiling. Not a big deal, but i would have been more comfortable in one of the lower rooms. Overall, it was great, though.

Tim was friendly and welcoming as usual. Love the views from the bedroom windows. The location is ideal to all amenities in the town. Breakfast is excellent. Can't recommend this place highly enough.

Dated furniture and fittings. Our room was in the attic and very expensive for what it was. Terrible shower. The whole place needs a serious refit.
