I really enjoyed the onsen baths—they were relaxing and a great part of the stay. The breakfast and dinner buffet were also very good, mostly standard Japanese dishes with a few Western options. The futon and pillows were comfortable, and I appreciated the large selection of yukata—I was able to find one not only in my size (which can sometimes be a challenge in Japan) but also in a design I liked. The location is convenient: the hotel offers a shuttle to and from Atami Station, and it’s only a short walk to the seaside promenades. I also liked the shogi and reading room on the top floor, which has a great view overlooking the town and the sea.

The room was quite dated, and the cleanliness could have been better—there was mold on the bath curtain and stains on the closet door (oshiire). The in-room bathtub was very deep but small, with rough tile edges, and didn’t look very comfortable to use. Since I used the public onsen instead, it wasn’t a major issue for me, but it could matter for guests who can’t use the shared baths.
