It was very nicely converted from a smiddy to a five bedded property (one double and two twins). As two of the rooms were twins it was good for our group as we are just friends and sharing a double bed would not have been appropriate. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Information in the visitors guide about local activities, food outlets etc was very good. The wood burner was very effective once we got it going - the heat permeated up the stairs into the bedrooms. Once the fabric of the house heated up the place was toasty.
I don't think it was made clear that the two twin rooms didn't have solid walls - they had a door each but where there would have been a wall there was simply a heavy curtain. This meant that there was no sound insultaion at all in any part of the cottage (apart from the one double bedded room which had a door and walls. The kitchen could have done with a pair of scissors and sharper knives......Apart from that everything else was excellent

We loved our stay! The Smiddy was cosy and spotless, in an excellent location for many local walks as well as Glencoe. We loved spending our evenings by the logfire and slept our nights soundly. The hosts were very friendly and the whole experience was wonderful!
An enclosed garden for the dogs would have been lovely but it was not a big problem for us!

Location is great, we know the area and love it
You will not get a night's sleep, the beds are SHOCKING, frames are so noisy it's unbelievable, we actually slept in the single beds which aren't much better, mattress so lumpy , the arm chair and couch are so worn out, you sit in them and need help to get out of them, it does NOT have a fridge freezer, it's a fridge with ice box so we wasted £35 frozen food,it also was not clean, mould in ice box dead insects in fridge and sink area very dirty.

Love that it is a converted Smiddy, prefer historical to modern. Bedrooms were a good size, upstairs in particular bright and cosy. Beds very comfortable. Handy location for visiting area. No shop in village but Callander & Crieff not too far away. Somewhat higgledy piggledy kitchen equipment but everything we needed.
The owner was very friendly and available if we had had any issues.
Downside of being a converted Smiddy was it's a stone build - downstairs was quite gloomy and cold without heating, even in June. There is only a small area of garden at front-as seen in picture- not an issue for us we had no dogs or kids with us but this might be a problem for others. Open plan kitchen/dining/living room which was fine sizeways for us but maybe a bit cramped if there were 6 of you. Probably a legacy of Covid but no books/games/DVDs and with limited TV, which, since it's Scotland in June and it rained everyday, wasn't ideal.
We booked through Booking.com and it was not a good experience. Real difficulties with payment and insufficient details about property. We were not informed that electricity wasn't included in the price and with heating needed even in June in the property, that was an unpleasant surprise. We spent £45 on the log burner (rather than use the electric convector heaters), which kept the room toasty warm, so don't know how much the electric heating would have been. We used upstairs bedrooms since downstairs was uncomfortable without heating.

Cottage in a good central location to explore the area and a 10 minute walk to the Loch and pub
