Had a great stay at Gunung Merta bungalows and would definitely recommend.

The location of the property is very convenient. Staff are very helpful and the entry point is so nice.

The three person bungalow can feel very open and exposed to insects.

Amazing service from start to finish !

This was an amazing stay at a really sweet property. The staff were incredible. The room was clean. The service was amazing and they even gave us a little bracelet at the end of our day to say thank you. It’s close to lots of really good food and drink places, easy to get to and from and considering it it’s on a main road super quiet. Highly recommend anyone stay here and we would absolutely come back!

Excellent for 3 days stay.

It is an excellent accommodation close to the city. Service is very good. Breakfast is excellent. Felt like home. Best thing we found is the drinking water in the room - excellent.

It is a bit up and down within the property to take the luggage but the staffs helped us - so no issues. Some centipedes come within the room after the rain. Not comfortable but normal being next to so many trees.

Great find!

This place was such a great find, set in a great location on one of Ubud's main streets, super close to supermarket, cafes and laundromat. Since it's family-owned the bungalows are built in the extended courtyard of a big beautiful traditional Balinese home, whose garden you'll pass through to get to your accommodation - you'll be immersed in gorgeous local architecture and decor, while the actual rooms are modern and very comfortable. Our room had a a big furnished terrace with a view towards the rainforest. The bathroom was closed off, which is something we tried very hard to find in order to avoid mosquitoes and other insects. Pool was a beautiful oasis of tranquility and floating breakfasts are available. Lastly, the staff was amazing, very helpful, funny and kind and we had the chance to socialize with the owner over dinner, which was a great experience.

The gardens are incredible. The villas are Clean and well maintained. The Staff are so friendly, accommodating and lovely.

The only issue we had was from the rain. When it’s heavy it’s very loud in the villa.

Authentic Bali, great value, beautiful grounds, pool & staff

Real Bali. Located at the back of a family compound - it’s gorgeous. Looks bigger in the photos than it is actually. (Which is a good thing) There is only 8 or so rooms which means the pool is only shared with a few other guests at a time. Lovely staff and food was delicious and reasonably priced. We had multiple dinners, breakfast, food by the pool, lots of mini bar items and in the end my bill was $140 Australian dollars. Excellent value. Also used the spa for two massages including for my 9 year old who loved it! ATM across the street and also large supermarket stocking all essentials. Down the road from a great bakery called Livingstone that I really recommend walking to (turn right and walk for 100 metres past the drumming store)

Suggest getting taxis/grab into town as sidewalk is challenging but we survived a few walks!

A hidden paradise in a bustling part of town.

The bungalows are set in the stunningly beautiful gardens of a family compound. Our room was clean but a little bit tired, that said though, the balcony view over looking the jungle was amazing. The breakfast was exceptional and the staff were a complete delight- the energy surrounding this whole place was magical. Be prepared to be completely immersed in nature and all her sounds.

Heavenly gardens - great food and pool. Perfect location

We absolutely loved our stay at Gunung Merta - breakfast was lovely plenty of options - fresh smoothies, Balinese foods, eggs many ways, pancakes, salmon, bacon, omelettes etc and lots more - fresh fruits, tea coffee. The rooms were sparkling and overlook the jungle great aircon and wifi was good. Pool is great and as it’s a boutique establishment there are not too many people. You can get food and drinks by the pool, we also dined in one night and meal was lovely. Best parts of our stay were the staff, the gardens to die for and being next door to Maharata Spa where we could get treatment or massage anytime and well discounted through our hotel. It’s a perfect location - away from very busy area but just a few minutes walk or a quick taxi/grab.

Great location for touring Ubud, just north of the main street, quiet and welcoming

Staff were so welcoming and helpful. All needs were met, the communication was great and they offered advice and direction in anticipation of our needs. Room was set in the back of the property, away from the street and very quiet. Pool was right outside our room door and a great escape after walking the city. Breakfast was served to order either in our room or the reception area which was a nice touch

Good Location. Exceptional Staff.

Location was amazing. You could take a short cab ride to Ubud Palace or the Market. The staff and service was exceptional. They left no stone unturned to deliver an immaculate guest experience. They even provided breakfast boxes as early as 3:45 AM!

A very nice, calme hotel, with a lot of nice services.

Very nice hotel for a reasonable price. The staff is very friendly, fantastic breakfast and juices. Rooms are spacious, the garden is very beautiful. There are a lot of on-site services, massage is excellent. There are a very good restaurant on the other side of the street and a quite big supermarket.

A very charming hotel that we would gladly recommend.

We had a spacious room with a balcony and a beautiful view of the jungle. The hotel is surrounded by a lovely garden full of flowers, with a pond and a nice swimming pool that add to the relaxing atmosphere. Breakfast has to be ordered one day in advance by choosing from the menu and specifying the time, but it was always very tasty. What we appreciated the most was the extremely kind and helpful staff, who made our stay very pleasant despite the bad weather.

The only small downside is the location – the hotel is just about a 10-minute walk from the center, but the sidewalks are in poor condition (broken and uneven), which makes walking a bit difficult. The traffic is also very busy, so taking a taxi doesn’t get you there much faster either.

We really enjoyed our stay. It was exactly like in the pictures. Rooms/bathroom were very clean. Location was perfect; bank across the street, restaurants, spas steps away. easy 30 min walk to Monkey Forest. 15 min walk to Palace. On a busy street with all amenities; but once you enter the property it was very quiet. Pool was great. Breakfast was amazing and abundant. Staff was friendly and attentive.

- The mesmerizing zen garden in the property gives you a peaceful feeling in the middle of the busy Ubud - Tatstefully crafted traditional Balinese residence, a different experience over commercial hotels - Nice room and garden views all around - Good breakfast - The couple of cats and koi fish on property further added to the pleasant experience - It is faster to walk to key Ubud places from here, as the traffic will cause cars to move slower than pedestrians

- Located on a busy Ubud street without parking or place to stop, so if you have considerable luggage, prepare to juggle - Very limited veg options in the breakfast

The staff are really friendly. They deliver breakfast to your room, the location is really good.

Bugs get in, you can’t do much about that. Though it was a little evident that the pool was not looked after for cleanliness. There was a dead frog just floating about in the pool on our first day there, which put us off wanting to go in. You could see just looking the pool was dirty. More importantly the lock on our was very poor. Took several attempts to lock the door and we would often be greeted by several bugs on entry. The shower constantly flooded, often a 5 min shower lead to water spilling all over the bathroom.

I loved every single thing about this place. The property is in walking distance from the central Ubud. Within the property owners residential area and some other buildings all in traditional, and the hotel is deep inside facing the jungle side. So even though you're staying one step away from the big road, you hear nothing but the birds chirping. Oh the staff members - they were the kindest people I've met in the entire trip, and I mean Balinese are all kind but these staff were the best. The breakfast was amazing too. You can either have them delivered to your room or have it at the restaurant. During our stay, we tried almost all kinds of breakfast they offer and we were not disappointed once. I loved the big pool too. It's not private but there weren't that many people using it. I prefer this big pool over the private pools at the two other places I stayed in Bali.

The staff were amazing. Literally i havent seen so kind and nice people before in my life. Location is good. The balcony of the room was straight to the jungle and we did like it. The pool was nice and clean. Really looks like family business, really cute.
