Desire Riviera Maya Resort All Inclusive, Exclusively for Couples

The facility and staff are excellent. Our second trip there and have had a wonderful time including with the other guests. No pressures or expectations, but a very open and comfortable environment.

The food, while presented elegantly, can be somewhat generic. A little more option for food choice would be nice. But of course, this is not a resort to be visited for the Michelin star food quality, and what is there is still good.

Excellent facilities and staff attention. Particularly pleasurable is the very many restaurants and food/drink stations. The provision of the quiet pool as well as the large activities pool gave an option to be restful of entertained. The rooms are set out in blocks with well tended 'jungle' in between, creating a pleasant aspect. Racoons and Coatis visited the hotel gardens at dusk.

This hotel promotes a sensual atmosphere, clothing optional, in an adult only setting. January is 'Life Style' month, but it seemed they were in the minority, many couples put clothes on to go in the hot tub! We visited their other hotel, Desire Pearl, under the same January promotion. The difference was stark. We had been deceived, Pearl met the marketing focus, Riviera Maya did not.

Most restaurants close to our room. We liked the outside coffee shop. Met a lot of great people. Food was very good. Majority of staff excellent.

Breakfast buffet much the same everyday. Most hot items lukewarm. Lunch buffet same. Other breakfast choice reserved for certain members only. A couple of restaurants were closed a couple of days during the week. Concierge did not tell us upon check-in, so until you made reservations you didn’t know. Air conditioning fan in the room rattled all night long. Our room was not cleaned until 5:00 PM or later other than one day. Floors were never scrubbed, bathroom sink was never cleaned during our stay. One of the bulbs in our room was flickering, and another bulb was burned out in the same fixture. Batteries in the TV remote needed to be changed. Types of alcohol and mixes were different at every bar on the property. No consistency. Every day by 11:35 AM standing in line was a must to get a reservation at the restaurant you wanted. Reservations opened at noon.
