Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancún - A Karisma All-Inclusive Experience for All

We had a fabulous time at this resort and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed and fun and you on the Riviera Maya. Pros Staff - what makes this resort really special is the staff. Everyone is so friendly and helpful right through from the front desk, to the waiting and bar staff, island ambassadors and housekeeping and cleaners, bell hop, security. Everybody says hello and can’t do enough to help you. Food - great food everywhere. Lovely beachfront restaurant. Great taco place. Other 2 restaurants great too. All meals were great. Plenty of choice. Island ambassadors- concierge there to help with you every need. Super friendly and respond to messages quickly. Massive thank you to Bélkim and Karla for all the assistance they gave us in our vacation. It really ensured we had the best time. Activities - fun daily activities. Craft, painting, paddle boarding , volley ball, yoga. Lots of choice. Some events on beach in evening and variety of shows. Fun entertainment team. Loved the prawn cerviche making with Itzel, Tony and Cesar. Thanks. Accommodation - low rise. Nice layout. Very clean and tidy. Nice rooms. Very comfortable beds. Resort facilities- plenty of pool options. Constantly kept clean and tidy everywhere. Nice bar and restaurant options. Nice layout. Location - out of Cancun but near enough to reach for days out or trips. Close to lovely little town of Puerto Morales which is worth a visit. Uber and taxis easy. Secure. I often think you can tell more about a business when things don’t quite go right and how they handle it than when things go really smoothly. We had a minor issue and we’re not happy with our room. The staff went above and beyond to find alternative options for us when the hotel is that quite high occupancy. Cons Reserving sun loungers - was really surprised that so many loungers were reserved very early in the morning. We always managed to find somewhere but the resort was quite high occupancy so little choice. I feel if reserving was discouraged then there would be an ample flow through the available beds. This was just a bit of a nuance. Spa sales - being asked 3 or 4 times everyday if I’d like to book any treatments in the spa was a bit annoying

Smaller scale than most all inclusives. Extremely friendly staff. Effortless check-in and out. Very good maintenance of public areas and beach.

Poolside towels weren’t always available. Bathroom mirror needs to be replaced as glass had black spots where mirrored glass was missing.

This is a smaller resort, which we loved. Even though it was full, it rarely felt crowded and we never really waited for any service. As a family resort, they do a good job of providing spaces that suit both kids and adults. The staff were so pleasant and helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable, clean and had a beautiful view. There was a nice variety of food and the quality quite good and consistent. The tacos are a standout. The activities and events staff were particularly great. We had a wonderful feast on the beach for Christmas - delicious!

DO NOT book your excursion with Ruta Maya (the company the resort uses). We visited Tulum, a cenotes and swam with turtles. The activities themselves were fine, but our guide and driver were grumpy and seemed bored with the whole process. At the resort it would be great if there were a few more onsite activity options and a bit more sports equipment that was accessible and in good condition. People should know the beach is still covered in seaweed. This is not the resort's fault, and they work tirelessly to clean it up, but travelers should know the beach is not ideal.
