Spacious cottage walking distance to the beach

Stayed in the cottage - was very spacious and had a lovely little garden. Nice breakfast with fresh bread in the morning. Easy walking access to the beach. Was some Owls in the trees outside the cottage.

The pool was a little green however this might have been made worse by the bush fires nearby.

Could be better

Good location, close enough drive to all beaches. The staff at breakfast were nice. The room had a fridge and ample plates and utensils provided. We requested flat sheets as there were none and the owner assisted promptly.

Overall a bit pricey for what you get, and not sure it meets 4 star. The listing didn't mention rooms have interleading doors so there's little privacy with neighbors whom you can hear very loudly. Would not recommend in summer, as there's no aircon, just a very dusty standing fan. Shower head was missing a plate, so just a tap in the wall really. Some of our towels were stained and overall all very thin and scratchy. Carpeted floor maybe not ideal for a beachside place, it felt a little grimy.

I travel for work often to Hermanus and have stayed in various different B&B’s. There are better value for money opt

I was travelling for work and booked this B&B as it was close to my dinner function. There isn’t much positive to say about this property.

The fittings and decor are very dated. It looks like something decorated in the 1970’s. I tried to get a takeaway coffee at Breakfast and they didn’t have takeaway cups. The lady serving breakfast didn’t seem to be able to speak English.

The most comfortable and pretty stay we have had in Hermanus!

Everything! It is such a lovely property and above everything Linda is a lovely host - extremely knowledgeable, very supportive, helpful and attentive! We felt at home and my daughter was super excited with the pool, the garden and the little pond with frogs and fishes! The breakfast was so nicely and meticulously laid out, every little detail taken care of - I shall go again.

Place with a good atmosphere. Linda (the host) will make your stay special. She will help you organise your stay in the area and share very useful recommendations. Grotto beach is really close (with a nice restaurant and beach bar) and in the afternoon you can chill at the swimming pool. Don’t miss breakfasts in here - it’s delicious! I came with my parents and the family room we’ve got was on the upper floor. It was too hot for my parents so they’ve been moved to a separate room on the ground floor (without any additional charge). It was a gesture I didn't even expect. It’s definitely 10 for me :)

A lovely place to visit, whether short or long term. The space won't make you feel cramped at all.

Linda is an excellent host and went well out of her to make our stay comfortable, fun and memorable. She gave us (my three kids - tweens and teen and parents) ideas of where to go, what to do, weather update, and ensured our breakfast needs were all net. Not easy given that we all have different needs. Thanks Linda! We shall be back.

Great choice close to Grotto Beach

Linda was a great host and went out of her way to help us with restaurant recommendations. This was especially helpful as we were there over new year and many restaurants were fully booked or closed. The breakfast was lovely and could be taken inside or in the gardens. We had a private outside space which was a bonus but there was also a communal swimming pool, grounds and BBQs.

Very well appointed and equiped cottage in a beautiful setting

This stay brought to a close our three week trip to South Africa and we couldn't have picked a better place to do so. Milkwood Lodge is easy to find and is a short walk to one of the best beaches in Hermanus although you need to drive to get to the centre of the town. We stayed in the cottage and the facilities were excellent including a washing machine which allowed us the luxury of a clean set of clothes to travel home in. Our host Linda couldn't have been more accommodating in helping us plan our time in Hermanus and with recommendations of restaurants which were all excellent. She was also very helpful in pre-visit correspondence. Her insight of Hermanus and South Africa in general was enlightening and I learned a lot from our chats during our stay. The breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. Highly recommended.

Die Küchenzeile befindet sich neben dem Bett, darüber hängt ein goldener Kronleuchter. Mülleimer war nicht geleert. Das Duschgel-/Shampoo lief aus seinem Wandhalter ungebremst nach unten. Keine Steckdose für den Föhn im Bad. Alles in die Jahre gekommen.
