Superb accommodation and wonderful team

We loved our stay at Whale Rock Luxury Lodge. Melanie and the team were so accommodating. The lodge was incredibly peaceful, with beautiful rooms, a lovely breakfast, and a team who are always happy to help.

Ticks the boxes!

Located at the start of the coastal path and new harbour the Whale Rock is a gem. Large comfortable rooms, hearty home cooked breakfasts, and great staff.

Very nice and comfortable room in beautiful country style house surrounded by large garden with Lots of old trees. Nice and large swimming pool. Helpfull and dedicated staff. Nearby the beautiful CliffPath starts.

Beautiful stay

The property manager provided support throughout the booking process of shark cafe diving and whale watching and booking cab for the next day trip clearly explained the details of each property in a friendly and professional manner. Also provided breakfast for us in advance as we had to start the trip from Hermanus to gansbaai early morning on our checkout day.

Loved the rooms - there are various categories. They are quiet - round the garden with pool - very comfortable.

It is rather a distance from the township but we had a car so not a problem and could within a second be on the cliff walk - it is almost next to the new harbour.

Exceptionally good room with large, comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom and spacious balcony. Very friendly staff, very good breakfast.

It is a way out of the centre, which makes it very peaceful, but is a fair walk or drive to restaurants and shops. Easily sorted with taxis but slightly less convenient.

We loved everything about the place.

In every place that we've been booked into we were never rushed or reminded about check-out time. We had a lot of luggage and went over by 20min. The host didn't seem happy about us going over time which was quite a turn off.

Wonderful place

A cute guest house, right by the new marina and cliff path so could walk into town. Big spacious room, lovely gardens and pool. Breakfast was highlight - full Monty. And Melanie who checked us in was full of info and very welcoming. Would defo go back.

Friendly staff, good size rooms, lovely breakfast, secure parking. Only stayed one night and went out. But did have a few drinks in a very pleasant lounge area, so overall very satisfying

Was a little surprised at the location, as we had to drive down a fairly intimidating road with a lot of people about to get to the Lodge, which was only about half a mile further down. Wouldn't want to be doing that at night!

The property is truly amazing. Its layout, the gardens and communal areas, the pool.

It is situated right by some slums and if you arrive by the onset of dark from that side of town it is quite scary for a first time Traveller to SA. The property is safe though, but since there is no food service at night it makes you wonder whether you want to go out again.

Exceptional

One of the most charming places I've stayed, and made for an outstanding stop on our ZA vacay! Visiting from the US, where the "guest house" does not exist as such. The quaint size, personalized service, amazing breakfast, generously stocked honesty bar, spacious room (we stayed in large garden suite), and amazing pool/grounds were highlights. Overall the character of the place was amazing. Old yet new, charming with modern amenities, friendly yet efficient, and affordable (bang for your buck)! Also of note is the prime location: Quiet, yet close to cliff walk, restaurants, beaches, etc.

Some issues with mosquitos in room. Was hot during our visit, so wanted the windows open, but this led to disruptive bugs! The fan helped with this, but not possible during load shedding.

Enjoyed out stay despite some issues .

The quiet location which was walkable into town in around 35 mins , there were also good places nearer which we enjoyed walking 7mins to.The owners helped us with dinner reservations which was very helpful & we enjoyed both places booked . The town is quaint & has nice atmosphere & good quality restaurants/ shops

We had an issue with a strong smell of damp in our room 6 bathroom which we reported on the first day of our 3 day stay. Very little was done to rectify the problem other than to run taps , no one asked us if things had improved during our time at the hotel which we thought was odd as damp / drains issues can affect health . There was also confusion over having to change rooms due to separate bookings , I did raise this when we checked in & was told I would be informed but this didn’t happen & we arrived back at the hotel to be told to pack up & move straight away . In short communication with guests could certainly be improved in our experience of both situations .
