Old people home

The staff was very nice and helpful. Just amazing people. We packed our bags and moved to another hotel. They were kind to refund the money.

To our shock, the place is an elderly apartment home. The restaurant and room facilities (gym, spa …) only with old retired people. The room had the alarms and bed for old people. We traveled with small kids and they pressed the alarm buttons 2 times (alarm buttons were positioned in every room, livingroom, toilet …). We were told that if the kids will press again then we will pay penalties. We booked the apartment because we needed the kitchen for our baby (to make the milk). In the kitchen there was a note saying that the kitchen facilities are not included in the room price and if we make anything dirty (included the sink) then we will have to pay cleaning penalties. It was not specified that we will get an elderly home apartment. Shock!!!

It is an mixed residency! Elderly home and tourist appartments!

It is a mix residency - elderly home and tourist apartments. Not that it is a problem in itself. It should be in the description! I could not stay there. I’ve spent months on a hospital after an accident. Those appts reminded me too much the hospital.

A good option for staying but be aware of all details

The location of the property is quite good for a visit to Locarno. A quiet spot close to the center and right next to the LIDO. The breakfast was good. Staff was polite and accomodating. Very clean and there is a nice walking park outside.

Facilities are a little dated. The use of the kitchen facilities come with extra cost to an already quite expensive stay. The property is actually and old people's home. Which has certain advantages like quiet and nice park outside. But overall it feels a little awkward. For example, one of the bedroom had a hospital bed in it. It is not your typical holiday accomodation and we were a little surprised. So best to be informed.

The location close to the lake is nice; you can walk along the lake into the city. While it is primarily a place for elderly people, they also have apartments for other guests, which are very nice.

The Appartment was wonderful clean and lots of space. The Breakfast Buffet was Delicious. The Bus station was in front of Residence and had enough parking for your car...

The Hotel/Residence is right next to a Soccer Field .... A bit loud at night when they have a soccer match til 11 pm on a Friday night.

Since the room was far too light in the morning (very ineffective blinds) and also very noisy (early morning deliveries just below window) we all woke up very early each morning. This means we would certainly not reccommend to others or stay here again.

There were no vegetables for breakfast but breakfast was very good. This is a aparthotel in the same building with a medical care for eldery people. A bit far from the city (15 min walk) but you have the Ticion card that offers you free transport.

Great location and big parking lot. Roomy apartment with decent kitchen. Nice people working there. We didn't realise the property is mostly a retirement village - made for good comedy. The mix works quite well actually. There is no partying at night!!! :) The kids loved pressing the emergency buttons and having the nurses turn up at the door regularly... The indoor pool and gym are excellent. The pool is like a big bath. The warmest pool in Europe I reckon.

They did a great job managing the oldies and the travellers. There is nothing to winge about. We will be back. A top property in a top location with very nice people. The food ain't gourmet, but the prices weren't either. The oldies probably can't taste it anyhow?!?! We had a good time. Probaly the most amusing trip we have had for years.

The apartment was well equipped and clean, conveniently located near lake side. staff was nice and helpful

The apartment comes with kitchen, however to use it you will be charged 40chf extra per night plus 150cfh additional cleaning fee! Also there is no WiFi in the apartment which is very unusual nowadays.

Quiet and restful stay in Locarno with 4 year old

Location_ great for stay with kid, if you’re an early bird and want a good rest. Beautiful park location, bus stop just at the entrance to residence, when you’re travelling by train, close to the lake promenade. Facilities_ nice, comfortable and clean apartment. Staff_ exceptional attention to the detail, service 5 star, very friendly. Food_ good breakfast selection,

All in all, I do not recomment this place as a 4star hotel, because it is not one of them.

The hotel stuff could most of our requests complete or they tried it at least. They were kind and helpful, the hotel was in a nice, green area, very close to the center and to the beach. The apartment was huge for two people. The breakfast was not a buffet ,intercontinental breakfast (they said because of the covid they cannot offer that, but we were for two months in Genf in a 4star hotel,as well, and they were able to offer a buffet breakfast), but they brought a salad bowl , when we needed some vegetables. The apartment had a big terrasse, but unfortunately it faced to a discus field.

First of all, we have read that the elderly live here,too, but we did not think, that from the many hundreds of apartments are 95% for the elderly. It was a bit dissappointing and the apartment ,too, because we chose a nice one with purple furnitures, but our apartment was an older one, with a wheelchair-supported shower,etc. Second of all, it was an uncomfortable thing, that we cannot go into our apartment at 12, because they were not ready with the cleaning. As an ex houskeeping worker , when we got before an or some guest, who wanted a bit earlier into his/her room going it was not a problem. They could not offer dairy-free milk, but I accepted it,because most of the hotels in Switzerland are not prepared for a lactose-and milkprotein intolerant people. Third of all, in the bathrooms we got old fashioned towels, and only a small shower gel, we had to buy more and of course ear-pick, etc. There was no Wi-Fi in the apartmens only in 2 points in the hotel. The bus , with which you could go into the city went 1-2 times/hour. Last, but not least, at the day of the leaving they did not want to offer us a luggage keeping, as the reception is not 24hours open, but at the end they could solve this problem,too. All in all, it is a nice and calm place but not ideal for people who wants a 4 star hotel service, because it is not one of them.

Perfect for family with baby

Location is great. It’s very clean and spacious apartment. Tasty breakfast.

It’s little bit far from central promenade with restaurants. There is a football field in the near, so in Saturday evening you can hear some noise. No air conditioner. It was a bit hot in summer.

it's not a real vacation apartment

excellent location right across the street to Locarno Lido, and a spacious apartment.

given we stayed for half a month, we really wanted to book an apartment. please notice though that they don't offer a functioning kitchen, the oven / heating plate is turned off, there are almost no pots / no dishes / no cutlery to even make a salad. when we asked for it they said it will cost 30 CHF / day more to enable electricity in the kitchen and provide us with pots. (at that price one can eat outside every day).
