Disappointing and overpriced

This is my third and final stay at this hotel. The hotel building and main areas are charming, but I am disappointed with the basic level of the hotel. I have held several rooms and now went for a 1 person room after first time being stuck in the attic room where there is almost no space to stand upright. For 300 euro a night, I did not expect to step into a prison cell sized room, with only a bed, a desk and a chair and small bathroom, in a corner directly above the stairs with the feel of a staff rest room. The view out of the window was directly to another building with windows. The aircon showed an E4 error, so I had to open the window for cool air, but there was noise from traffic and people being loud in the alleyway outside. All three times I have stayed here I was at breakfast around 8.45 and the eggs and bacon were finished, I waited for 40 minutes and only the egg was refilled, the bacon was not. Besides that there are no healthy options to get some protein in. Sugary options are there. Also, from early in the morning a cleaning cart was stalled directly outside of my door in an already small passage way and remained there until I went to check out. All in all I would not rate any of this 4 stars and it does not justify the high price. This is the last time here for me, unfortunately because the check in staff is great and location is lovely.

Phenomenal place and service only brought down by a prior guest that left a tabacco smell.

I was given 6th floor loft room, lifts only up to 4th floor, walk up the stairs for the top two floors. Very slanted ceiling, unable to get into bed from either side and bed very very low

A welcoming atmosphere by all staff

The welcome you get in City Hotel Ochsen is what would make you come back ! The little things they do great - requesting a little jug of milk when you arrive late is no problem will deliver to your room , to showing you the map of Zug. Both the man and lady on reception are brilliant and should be commended , same with the owner whom I met one of the nights . Better than any of the more expensive hotels in Zug which I’ve stayed at ! I will be back ! Rooms are well laid out , clean and cosy with beautiful modern bathroom - a pleasure .

Nice facilities, super warm welcome with kids set, spacious room, everything is clean. I want to say thank you for cleaning and organising all the things when we are out for breakfast after the first night. Breakfast is simply but delicious and definitely satisfied. We enjoyed our stay here.

Business stay over

Very well designed, clean and comfortable room. Lovely lounge, bar and restaurant with tasty food for dinner and great breakfast. Walking distance from the lake for a nice evening or morning walk and not that far from the station

It was a bit cold in the room and it took me some time to figure out that aircon is not working well, so better to adjust radiator to higher temperature.

enjoyed staying at the Ochsen

Location nd breakfast were excellent. The front desk, Andy and a woman whose name I don't know, were very helpful. I will recommend the hotel to future visitors to Zug. I have stayed at the park many times; prefer the Ochsen.

I would prefer higher bed with thicker mattress and a top sheet with light blanket rather than duvet---I know it would have been provided if I had mentioned it; forgot to.

beautiful, historical Hotel, right downtown.

We came with bicycles … it was great that we were allowed to park them inside (in a side building). This is a very ancient building - perfectly modernized while keeping the original structures in place. Wonderful breakfast, particularly the scrambled eggs. Very friendly staff.
