Amazing stay at Zug

Feels like home on a lake.

As a first time customer, I felt like I Wass a regular for 25 years. So much at ease, so much friendliness, lots of smiles, excellent service and a nice dinner.

Hotel Lion is well worth a visit

Hotel beautifully decorated in a modern style with classic touches ! Evening dinners were great as were breakfasts. Bedrooms equipped with a range of European electrical sockets. Our bedrooms had good individual air con units. Good sound insulation in the bedrooms. Nice lift. Staff generally very welcoming. Check out was very efficient. Excellent location in the altstadt. Very handy for trips on trains such as on the Rigi Bahn and a good base for driving around the central Swiss alps. We drove over the Gotthard Pass, the Nufenen Pass and Grimsel Pass all on one day.

The hotel has no car park, so you need to park in a very hot underground car park 5 mins from hotel which was discounted at 15 CHF per day. The hotel provides you with a Zug tourist card which does not even get you around the small lake for free using public transport. It’s more like a token gesture ! Breakfast etiquette was a bit too rigid for our liking. You must wait for a place to be set even if there are empty tables and they tell you where to sit i.e. they tell you to “please sit here” like there is no choice and resistance is futile !

Stunning lake view

The single room is facing to the lake, the lake view is breathtaking! The hotel is at great location, many restaurants downstairs, mini bird-park, 5 minutes walking distance to train station Zug Postplatz. Room is compact, modern and comfy, with Nespresso coffee machine, airconditioning and minibar stocked with 2 bottles of water. Closing the window completely could cancel the noise from restaurant downstairs. Hotel also provides free 1-day transportation card covers the Zug area could cover train/bus/tram

1. Slow wifi and 4G network during Friday night (too many users probably). Saturday early morning is ok. 2. Breakfast is under the bar, limited choices, bread are not fresh baked. Quality is compromised probably due to free breakfast.

One Day Stay in Central Zug

We booked the hotel for a single day stop in Zug. Very well located in city center! We were lucky to receive room 206 - which was a corner room overlooking the lake in the most perfect angle. Rooms are quite spacious, comfy. Breakfast was good, too.

Overall I had a very pleasant stay, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful and my room was extremely comfortable

My room was very clean, comfortable and equipped in all the necessities.

The only thing I didn’t like was that the sound isolation wasn’t too good and I could hear voices from outside, but it’s understandable in older buildings.

* Breakfast was very mediocre for the price * Room was quite small with a tiny shower, which reminded me of Hong Kong and Tokyo! * Noise - quite a lot of noise from the very narrow corridors and doors slamming * No gym
