Family atmosphere in a small, quiet, well located hotel, meeting your personal needs

Hotel is very close to the train station, hence, easily accessible on foot. It's also close to the old town. So if you travel to see the town, this place is for you. Tram stops are at the train station, so this option is also easily available. Hotel provides free of charge tickets for tram/bus. We arrived early, around 11 am but the very kind lady at the reception immediately let us in without additional fee - it was super convenient as we prepared ourselves and started our day without thinking about check-in formalities in the afternoon. Also, on the day of check out, we left our luggage there and when came back for it, were allowed to wait our departure time in the hall - it was a relief in a cold winter. Breakfast is very nice. All food is tasty. Hotel offers immediately cooked omelette with bacon, cheese or vegetables per your preference. Hot drinks aren't in big jars on a buffet table, but are served in pots on your table. The vessel in the hotel is beautiful and all is nicely served, that makes the whole atmosphere very friendly and family type. You can drink tea, coffee or mint/lemon water and have some snacks any time during a day, free of charge - we used this opportunity on our arrival and strengthened ourselves after travel. We stayed 3 in the room, which is small but with everything you might need (wardrobe, small table, chairs, water, hairdryer, shampoo, but there are no other utilities). It is basic, though clean and perfectly enough, especially for a short stay or even longer, if you're alone or a couple. Probably wouldn't fit family with kids for longer then one night.

The only problem was that the lift wasn't working which was ok for us being with a backpack but might be a problem with heavy luggage (though we were offered assistance) or for those with older age.

Overall it was good experience as we were staying for a night only.

Best part of this hotel is its location, it is close to the railway station and also to the city center. So it's easy to carry your luggage by walking.

Comfortable stay with very attentive staff!

Very friendly and helpful staff at the Minerva! I really enjoyed my stay. The bedroom was well furnished and very clean with a really comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet had a nice selection of sweet and savoury and was presented well. The location is great too; just a few mins from the main station and well within walking distance of all the major attractions of this lovely city. Although the location is quite central, the room was quiet and the black-out curtains were very welcome too. The lovely man at the front desk was very helpful; giving me directions and checking train times too.

I would have liked a kettle in my room- but being British stereotype, I would say that!

Fantastic hotel and location.

The welcome was so welcoming and informative, I also felt comfortable from the moment I walked in. The whole hotel was lovely and clean, my room was completely fine and very clean (single room) with everything that you would need for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was more than I was expecting with breads, pastries, cereals, Cheeses, meat, eggs and even hot food. The staff were amazing and the coffee kept coming which totally suited. There was a lounge area where there were teas, coffee water etc with no extra charge. The house keeping was amazing. It was less than a 10 min walk from the stations and also less than 10 mins to the old town, cathedral and square. Highly recommend and if ever I was to visit again I would 100% stay there again. 10/10

The only complaint I might find (with a struggle) was no fridge and no safe in the room. Though having said that, I felt that the hotel was safe and trustworthy.

Great hotel - would stay here again and would recommend to others

We had a great stay at Hotel Minerva. Staff was so nice and very helpful. Room was clean, and had a nice little balcony with a table and chairs. Nice breakfast spread each morning. And the hotel is in a great location, walking distance to just about anything you'd want to do in Freiburg as well as the train station.

Clean and cozy hotel with excellent breakfast

The location is very good, walking distance to both train station and city centre. My room was clean as well as the external bathroom which was big with modern facilities such shower and wash basin, etc. Slippers were also provided. There was no air conditioning in my room which might be hot during summer days but I opened the window at night and was pleasant. The bed was very comfy and the wifi was very good. Breakfast was excellent, it could not be better. It had a lot of varieties for all tastes and very delicious. Staff very helpful and welcoming, highly recommended!

Good location with a great breakfast offer. Staff is very friendly, helpful and responsive. Late check-in possible with keys in a box outside the hotel for pickup. Good for a short stay.

It was good but my room had a separated bathroom that I could only reach going through a hallway besides other rooms. A little expensive for one night offer.

The entire hotel was very clean. my single room was spacious. staff were all very friendly. breakfast was great.

Poor soundproofing. I could hear a baby crying and kids screaming downstairs- all in their rooms behind closed doors. would be nice if they replenished breakfast items- i came down after 9am each day and some items were never refilled or left just one.

Excellent location, only a ten minute walk to the railway station. Great to see the sights of Frieburg. Balcony a bonus! Lovely welcoming staff. Lovely fresh breakfast, good selection.

No drink facilities in the bedroom, although free refreshments were available via reception area. TV didn't work. Mentioned to the staff, but on leaving, so it wasn't perhaps there fault. Mattress was rather soft, not good if you have a bad back!

We loved Freiburg! Our stay in the Black Forest could have been longer - we will go back.

We were three people - couple and adult son, and we shared a quad room. We were comfortable; the room was efficiently outfitted with beds, no chairs. We loved the breakfast every morning! The staff was very, very helpful and lovely. Great location to enjoying all that Freiburg has to offer.

If possible to have a chair or two, that would be great.

Would return anytime!

Absolutely charming, attention to detail in decor, design, and function. Took advantage of laundry service, which was prompt and reasonable. Breakfast was exceptional with friendly service and a multitude of offerings buffet style to suit everyone’s taste. While located centrally it was very quiet at night, easy to find from the main train station. Surprised by the free tickets to use public transportation and pleased by nearby parking garage arrangements for our rental car. The hosts thought of everything and more- wunderbar!

Pros Very beautiful hotel The staff were super friendly specially the lady at reception Room was decent for one person clean sheets and everywhere as well as the toilet Breakfast was not that big but it didn't need to be it has many things for you to eat and drink It's very warm as a hotel I didn't really need any heating Cons At night the other guests on thw same floor(3rd) were shouting like crazy people but that's not the problem of the hotel people don't have manners in 1-2 am I will definitely revisit or have it on my next when choices when I will return in freiburg

WORST HOTEL IVE EVER STAYED

The location

Everything else. There is no staff after 6pm to assist with anything. They treat their paying customers like garbage and act like they're doing you a favor by doing their job. The internet is terrible. you can hear the toilet water running through the pipes from the room upstairs. the pillow (the ONE they give you), the bed and the one tiny one person comforter were very uncomfortable.

A quick trip to Freiburg and the Black Forrest

The room was spacious and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was excellent. We sat outside on a terrace and chose from a wonderful array of buffet style food. Parking was about 300yds away in a multi-storey car park with a discount for hotel guests. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Cathedral, so quite convenient. There are a lot of different types of shop + restaurants and bars. We were there on a Saturday so there was a market around the Cathedral and we were just in time to catch Widor's Tocatta being played for a wedding - magnificent. We had a really nice meal at "Zum Roten Barren" where I have eaten in the past.

Very well located and nice accomodations

Friendly welcome and excellent breakfast buffet. Only a 5mn walk to reach the historical center of the city. There's a lift in the hotel and they keep your luggage safe after the check out. Easy parking facilities if you come by car.
