Perfect old work charm

What a beautiful hotel in the best location (especially for the Christmas markets) the man on the front desk could not have been more welcoming and friendly, the concierge who brought our mountain of luggage was polite and prompt. The room was gorgeous, a big fluffy bed, large bathroom and view onto the markets could not have been nicer, must also be noted that this was the least expensive of the rooms we stayed in at the various Christmas markets towns but above and beyond the nicest. The bar was a great place to have an after market cocktail with the cool tunes of the piano man. Take the valet parking if it’s a busy time of year as it’s well worth it for the ease of parking outside and abandoning your car to someone who knows how to negotiate the trams! Great hotel.

Exceptional Stay at Colombi Hotel We had a truly wonderful stay at the Colombi Hotel and loved discovering the charm of the surrounding community. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for—nothing was too much trouble, and every need was met with genuine warmth. Do not skip the breakfast! It was absolutely delicious and surprisingly filling—we didn’t even need lunch, just a light early dinner. The location is incredibly convenient, just a short walk from the train station and close to all the local sights. Everything about our experience made us want to return and stay a little longer next time.

There wasn’t anything negative about this property only that our stay was much too short.

We loved our stay at Colombi Hotel! The property was perfect and very well situated to explore the beautiful city of Freiburg. Breakfast was plentiful. Staff couldn’t be more attentive to our needs during our stay!

We are guests of this hotel sisnce more than 30 years and is always a pleasure to be here: staff location comfort is excellent

Passing the years the services are slowly loosing some attention that in a 5 stars Luxury hotel shall never happen: one example the room service for breakfast took already used and opened cans of marmelade... is stupid but should never happen. The shower head was full of calc...small things that can be easily solved

Kindness, elegance and vintage structure, everything perfect!! We where with kids and they have upgraded us by their own with two rooms nearby making an apartment without asking for more…really kind.

Once a good hotel. Now one to avoid.

Location was good and car parking convenient. A nice welcome from the door and reception staff.

The hotel is undergoing renovations and we were disturbed by adjacent noise as well as no hot water in our room. We had to push VERY hard to change rooms. Such an easy thing could have been taken care of so much more easily. Shame. A one night stay when you have to be out of the room for four hours whilst maintenance do their thing is really bad service. No apologies offered. €300 / 9 hours - 4 hours = €175!!!

Bar allowed people to smoke within! Even though they had a smoking section separate, the whole bar we full of smoke, like something out of the 1980’s. The bar itself was beautifully designed. In the room no tea/coffee or water facilities provided which I’m surprised about for 5star hotel. TV in room was something out of the 1990’s

First-rate hotel and restaurant in beautiful Freiburg.

Terrific hotel—caring and efficient staff, beautiful common rooms, very comfortable and HUGE room and GREAT bathroom. Wonderful lunch and late afternoon coffee and cake on the outside terrace restaurant. There’s also a pool and spa. Breakfasts generous and elegant.

Firmer bed pillows? Otherwise, no complaints!

OK but problems with room and will not stay here again

The bathrooms were well updated, except for keeping to the outdated arrangement of having the hair dryer hard-wired into the wall and requiring you to hold down a button to keep the power running. The room itself was ok, nothing special and could use updating. The bed was comfortable. The staff were pleasant and professional, although the front desk seemed understaffed. Returning from dinner, we had to wait several minutes for our key (no key cards) while the one person on duty answered question after question from some other guest who had done NO research about the town. OTOH, when we dropped off a shopping bag with the front desk before heading out for dinner, they kindly took it up to the room for us. In short, the staff outperformed the hotel itself.

The uncomfortably overheated room. The price which seemed to us to be significantly higher than it should have been, esp given the hotel`s need for updating and the fact that breakfast was not included. Definitely not a true 5-star experience, esp compared to the hotel we had the night before in Baden-Baden (at a notably cheaper rate)

arrogant and contemptuous staff, dated facilities,

nothing. it's decorating style is dated from the 1990s. there are no outlets in the room that are easy to reach for charging. I had to move a desk to find one. The staff were condescending and rude.

Exceptional

A bit classic/ old school but very charming and comfortable rooms. The hotel staff, especially at reception was very helpful and lovely. The location right in the city center is very convenient and close to the main sites. The spa makes the overall stay even more luxurious.

Not much to complain about. Maybe the opening hours of the spa should remain from early morning to evening so that guests can enjoy it a bit more on the day of check out.
