A wonderful place I highly recommend!

I loved the owner James! From the minute I arrived to check-out, he was friendly, warm and welcoming. He was very flexible with check-in and check-out; I was able to check-in early with no problem. I booked a single room because that’s what was available on Booking.com, and he kindly upgraded me to a double at no additional charge. My room was bright, comfortable, spotlessly clean, and quiet. And James knows how to make a sensational breakfast! It’s a full Scottish breakfast, mine was vegetarian, and included homemade marmalade and fruit compote…delicious and filling. Woodlea is only minutes walking from the train station and all the sights, restaurants, pubs, shopping, and the river, so exceptionally convenient. This is one of the best places I’ve stayed in the 4+ months I’ve been traveling. Thank you James for a memorable stay in Perth! You truly added to the whole experience. ❤️

An excellent Bed and Breskfast and the host made it even better

James was a first class host. Lots of local knowledge and gave great recommendations for places to eat. Everything was as expected and the breakfast was excellent. James was more than happy to spend time getting to know you and to chat about local area and about places he had visited.

Good for the price

Room was nice, although a little dated. The bed was comfy and we appreciated the complimentary teas and coffees. The man in charge was welcoming and very lovely. Breakfast included in the price of the room was brilliant too, my partner enjoyed a full Scottish breakfast while I enjoyed the cereals and yoghurt! Was also closely located to the train station which was a big benefit.

TV doesn’t have Netflix, Prime, or anything unlike other places I have stayed, so that was a little disappointing. Walls were thin, so could hear conversations from other rooms. Close proximity to the train station, but as a location I didn’t feel particularly safe at night (though that is through no fault of the accommodation, just worth mentioning so others know)

Comfortable night's stay

Room was a little small but the bed was comfortable and the water in the shower hot so a great night. The location was convenient for my purposes and the staff friendly and helpful. I would stay again.

A must when in Perth.

When I arrived at the Woodlea the front door was open and James greeted me with a handshake and smiles. Staying at the Woodlea is like staying in James's home. He is an excellent host, gives great recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing based on his own personal experience. I was the sole guest in the Woodlea on one of the nights I stayed. I felt very safe there. It was my first time in Scotland and I was curious about Haggis. James surprised me at breakfast one morning with some vegetarian Haggis in addition to providing Soya yoghurt which was very thoughtful. The breakfast is very tasty even without Haggis. The bed and pillows were comfy. It is a short walk(8 mins) from Perth train station, and from the town centre. Overall James and his staff take great care of guests. I highly recommend staying at the Woodlea.

Friendly and welcoming!

The staff couldn't be friendlier! Really made me feel welcome, recommendations around the town and even preparing me a personal breakfast for my early departure. Really a warm and welcoming experience!

Some parts of the room are a little dated, mainly the bathroom fan which is loud and stays on for a long time. There's also no easy access socket next to the bed. Minor details.

A great place to stay if you’re passing through — highly recommended

We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel during our stopover. The owner was incredibly kind and helpful, and the staff were all very friendly. Our room and bathroom were spotless, which made for a very comfortable night. There are also several nice places to eat within walking distance.

There aren’t many parking spaces available, but the owner went out of his way to help us find a spot nearby.

Lovely nostalgic place, a flashback to simpler times, wonderful staff.loved it!

The property was very nostalgic for me. I was in the UK and Europe in the 80’s and it was a total flashback. In the 80’s I thought it was a flashback to the 50’s before I was born. I personally loved it. Great location to walk all around town. Everything was clean, a lovely breakfast. The staff were fantastic. I would return!

Parking……..we unexpectedly needed to find other arrangements. Which required us to find exact change. It was late afternoon and we had to find a store to purchase something so we could break a larger bill. We were tired from a long day of driving, so more frustrated than we usually would be. Had to park on the sidewalk to unload. Just a bit awkward.

A pleasant weekend with lots of interest locally.

The location couldn't have been more convenient. Everything was good. The room, staff, cleanliness, shower all fine. The breakfast was tasty.

Perhaps a lick of paint here and there to freshen up a bit, but otherwise no complaints. I suffer with my back so rarely find a comfortable bed.

We really like James and his staff and the included breakfast was perfect.

This was the perfect location for us on our way to the airport.

People like my husband and I value comfort and cleanliness. It was very comfortable and we loved the shower. My only suggestion is to replace the duvet with white only and inspect for cleanliness of the carpet. We didn't expect parking to be off campus but the public parking was very close and accessible.

Our room was v small overlooking a yard full of weeds and the lights over the bed didn’t work. The Guests’ lounge wasn’t available. Parking was VERY limited and a tight squeeze. Overpriced for what we got.

Bed was big and comfortable. Friendly welcome in the evening and great chat at breakfast with the owner, who reminded me of one of The Proclaimers (that is a compliment). Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice - fresh fruit, homemade marmalade. Very handy for several restaurants, the main sights and the river.

The stairs were difficult for me with my overnight bag and I would have preferred a shower but there was very little choice of rooms when I booked. The ideal would be to talk to the owners about availability as there is a choice of rooms.
