The Countryside Udawalawe

We had an exceptional stay at The Countryside Udawalawe. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and had comfy beds for a restful night’s sleep. Rooms had a minibar & tea & coffee making facilities. Balcony overlooking the pool. The grounds & swimming pool were well maintained and provided a relaxing environment. The service from the staff was exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming throughout our stay. They also arranged a very good safari jeep tour for us, making our Udawalawe experience effortless and enjoyable. The food was excellent, with delicious meals that added to an already wonderful stay. A beautiful place with outstanding hospitality. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed our stay at this property. It was clean, comfortable and a peaceful location. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. We loved the swimming pool and garden area surrounding it. We went on a fabulous afternoon Safari arranged by the hotel. The breakfasts and dinners at the hotel were excellent.

We did the safari organised by the hotel which was great. Good aircon and large room, large pool.

There were a few things we didn’t love and we wouldn’t stay here again - firstly upon arrival the aircon and mini fridge in the room were off so the room was really hot. We ate in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast after our safari - we were asked to pre order our meals (which we found was not unusual at smaller hotels in Sri Lanka) however food was at dinner and breakfast was cold / clearly not fresh and we weren’t offered drinks. There is no air con in the restaurant (the restaurant is new so assuming they may install air con in the future) and lots of flies. At breakfast we explained we don’t eat diary / eggs as we are vegan and were served eggs.
