Very trying time and stress full

Nothing the extarnal of the building was a building site with cranes and access equipment at the door it was ddifficult to find

Location and easy to access into the room

While transporting my vehicle to the property, I inadvertently left our sole luggage unattended in the room. Fortunately, the hotel staff promptly rectified the situation. However, I found their communication style to be unprofessional and unfriendly. Despite this minor inconvenience, it is worth noting that the hotel staff efficiently resolved the issue within five minutes.

We were satisfied from the hotel and location.

Everything was good, it is close to crowd locations.

Entrance is at 15:00 with a password which is active right at the time. Recommendation; password can be active earlier for visitors who come earlier. So they can wait in the lobby room, they can rest and can protect themselves from rain.

Strangest room ever

The location and the cleanliness

The bathroom setup was very strange. The toilet was literally at the head of the bed, separated only by a glass door which didn’t go all the way up and down.

Cozy, clean room in a fantastic location

We stayed in Room 6 on the top floor. It’s a beautiful historic building with a stylish, characterful interior. The location is excellent—steps from the heart of the old town yet on a quiet street. Our room was clean and warm. The bed was comfortable with fresh linens. Even though the heater in the room wasn’t working, it was still cozy and we slept well. There’s a coffee machine with coffee and tea provided. Unfortunately, there was no water in the machine, and there were no instructions on whether the tap water is safe to drink. Overall, the room had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

The toilet light turns on together with the hallway light outside it. That’s inconvenient at night if someone is sleeping. The shower door doesn’t reach the ceiling, so steam escapes into the room and raises the humidity. Overall, the bathroom isn’t fully separated from the room, so it doesn’t feel very private.

Better than expected!

Very centrally located, spotless, comfortable bed, good communication with the team, coffee & TV available, courtyard view, and a selection of available books and reading materials in the waiting area.

The WC door half open felt weird, and there were hard wooden floor cracking noises from someone walking upstairs every morning

Not wat the pictures suggest

The place is located in the very heart of Ghent, at a few steps of all attractions.

The kitchen, the toilet, the shower are all hidden in one big closet. Besides the fact that cultural norms prescribe that there are things you don't do in a closet, the toilet was too cramped, there was no place in the shower to dry and dress oneself and the kitchen was very small and impractical. The table and chairs were unconfortable. Being at the first floor, the entire place in front of the hotel can look into your room, so you have to keep the curtains closed and you hear all the noise. Even if the room looks nice, new and clean, many details were already falling apart.

Good place until something goes wrong. Poor costumer service.

The room was stylish, functional, clean, and in a perfect location to explore Ghent.

Unfortunately, a faulty air conditioner made loud, intermittent noise most of the night (even when turned off), leaving us unable to sleep. Staff responded to our messages during the night advising us to email for compensation. We did, but they didn't reply. After five days & us following up a second time, they made offered a 30% refund. Which to us didn't match the severity of disruption, their inability to offer any solution at the time and the fact we already had to follow up to get a reply. We suggested that 50% compensation seemed more reasonable. We have waited to leave a review, hoping the hotel would respond with professionalism. Instead, after yet another follow up from our side, their final reply was delayed, defensive, and surprisingly accusatory! They accused us of blackmail—for hoping to resolve the issue privately and still be able to leave a positive review. We weren’t looking for a fight. We were hoping for professional and prompt communication. We declined compensation after they stated "we want to make sure you do not leave a bad review after the 30% refund." Instead, we chose to share our honest experience of a beautiful hotel, let down by staff communication that fell short of the expected standard. This review isn’t about the money — it’s about the importance of how guests are treated when problems arise.

Location, location, location!

Great location. Right where you want to be. We travel a lot and this was the simplest checkin. Code worked on the first try. Then up your typical European stairs to the 2nd level. Room was quiet at night and the bed was comfortable. The whole suite was very clean and modern. Exactly like the pictures. No surprises. About a 40minute lovely walk from the train station or you can take the tram part way.

Unique and boutique right in the centre.

Hotel full of charm and character. Location was amazing. Really special unique property. Beds were big and comfortable. Loads of space in our room.

The lock didn’t work properly a few times. And the shower didn’t have hot water for long. But the staff fixed it straight away.

Poor communication and frustrating experience.

Good bed and amenities

Reception-less self check in hotel which had very poor communication. I showed up at my check in time and had no communication from the staff so was left standing at a code guarded door to get into the hotel. I had to call them to get a code and when they gave me a code it wasn’t correct so i had to call back again. They were not interested in talking to me and were not helpful at all. Only received check in instructions after i had checked out.

Good stay at Edwards

The narrow steps to reach the room. There is no elevator. The room is in the attic and has sloping sides. So banged my head where the roof is close like the washroom , handwash... Expected a reply to my query for storage of my bags for a couple of hours after checkout. Did not get any reply.

Good

It's a good property and a very good location but the only drawback is the self check-in part. I informed the staff we were arriving early and I needed to check in early and they confirmed it. Once we arrived and after a lot of calls noone replied so we had to wait for 2 hours around with luggages.

Parking is expensive in Gent, free parking in front of hotel just between 23:00-8:00. Would be fine to have kettle in the room.

We unfortunately stayed at the hotel for a few hours because a problem arose during the night with our stay and the manager (Hussein) helped us by transferring us to another property of theirs, in which some rooms are still under reconstruction and there is a relative mess.

Lovely hotel in a great location

The location of the hotel was excellent - close to bars and restaurants nearby. The room was really clean and the whole building was really well kept.

There was some confusion around checking in and I received automated emails (I think) that made checking in and out confusing.

the room was freezing on arrival; Airconditioning/heating difficult to handle; remote for the TV (Apple TV) did not work; very noisy surroundings: street noise and dance café until 6:00 am virtually nextdoor; view on a parking lot
