Comfy beds, nice setting.
We were a bit disappointed with our stay. Upon arrival, while staff were friendly, we weren't given basic information such as when breakfast started/ended, where the spa was or when we could access it. The rooms are comfortable but pretty basic (no iron for example) and most of all, not soundproofed at all even though this is listed on the site. We were woken up quite a bit and could even hear the TV in another guest's room. For the 'spa' (big word for what is there), it's really small and basic so bear that in mind if you're looking for a real spa hotel. All in all, we didn't think it was good value for money.

Service was great, venue is wonderful
Restaurant was good only, nothing special

Beautiful setting, parking, comfortable and spacious rooms.
Food in the restaurants is mediocre. Both for lunch and dinner—not up to Lyon standards. Can go down the hill with the funicular and get great value and better tasting food.

Beautiful building
Disappointing rooms. The cell rooms feel just like a cell. I tried to upgrade but was told no. Not even a 'yes' if you pay which I was happy to do.
Food in the restaurant was limited and poor.

the spa is really nice. the grounds are beautiful. the building is really special. It is nice to look out at the city and feel above Lyon.
It was hard to get from the city/village to the hotel. Uber is expensive and the talk is robust.

Dinner was good , staff were ok but no offer to assist getting bags from the car park, room was average for the hotel cost it seems to be playing more on historic building and location , breakfast was below standard for a hotel like this .

I had been skeptical about this property to be honest based on Google Reviews but I was wrong. We had a wonderful stay in this hotel. It is located in the historical Fouviere district. It is totally walkable to get to the Basilica and the Roman ruins. Plus they are surrounded by these little cute parks. Room was large, definitely larger as opposed to what you get in Paris. And the staff service is commendable. They ACTUALLY listen to you and act. We asked for elec kettle and ironer and staff member knocked our door a few minutes later, with big smiles on their faces. It was nippy, cold October so it was nice to enjoy amenities such as stream sauna and outdoor swimming pool equipped with heating system.
It is not what I didn't like per se, but you can take this as area of improvement. On our first day, we got tired and wanted to have dinner in the hotel. It was Saturday night and I understand it was the last-minute request but we were told that the restaurant is fully booked, so we were not able to dine. In fairness, the staff was kind enough to recommend some restaurants nearby, but I personally believe that room guests should be able to be fed in the hotel they stay no matter what. And it's just 3 people so I trust he could have been more creative and found a leeway to accommodate his guests. So it would be better if the hotel has some options of more snack options as Fouviere area is literally empty and quiet after the nightfall.

The hotel is beautiful.
I booked a suite for my son and I. I had hoped this would be a good option for us in terms of a shared space and seperate sleeping areas.
The main bedroom included a sitting area. The sofa was very stained. The staff were unable to sort this out during our 2 night stay which was a pity. As a work around my son and I ended up using the shared space in the main hotel as opposed to the suite.

It was an interesting mix of the very old renovated with modern furniture and decor. Nice gardens and a pool, that I did not use
There weren’t many places to go within walking distance, except for the basilica and the Roman ample theater. No restaurants nearby

It was all very nice, we had a wonderful stay.
I can't think of anything that disappointed us.

Clean and the common areas are unique and beautiful.
Communication was quite poor regarding reservation changes that the hotel made. They changed our room without letting us know until 9:30 am that morning via a phone call while we were out touring. They offered to pack up our belongings and move them to a smaller room because the hotel became fully booked after ensuring us that we would not have to move. The Safe in the room didn’t work. The food is good, not great and very pricey compared to restaurants in Lyon. The water temperature in the shower fluctuates greatly.

The hotel is beautifully situated in Fourvière, offering stunning views over Lyon. The rooms, staff, and surroundings are all lovely, making it a perfect retreat after long day trips exploring the city. The quality of the mattresses made for an incredibly comfortable night's sleep. An added bonus is the spa, which provides a wonderful opportunity to relax and unwind—an ideal way to end the day in such a peaceful setting.

Absolutely loved our stay at the Fourvière Hotel in Lyon! The history of the building adds real charm, and the location is perfect for exploring the city. Being able to pre-book and charge the car was a huge bonus. Spotlessly clean, with brilliant staff who couldn’t do enough for us. And the evening meal? Absolutely scrumptious – one of the best we’ve had in France. Highly recommend!
Honestly, we can’t think of a single thing we didn’t like. Everything ran smoothly, the setting was beautiful, and the service was faultless. A rare experience where nothing disappointed!

The pool and restaurant were perfect in every way. We had children so the family room was comfortable and it was very helpful to have a few free bottles of water. All the staff were very kind and we had a really good time.

Extremely unique property! The lobby is magnificent. Good location near the Roman amphitheater and the Basilica, but otherwise more of a residential neighborhood. Great views. Excellent, friendly staff.
A bit remote from other parts of Lyon but worth it.

beautiful location and building.
asked about early check in twice before arriving - over a week before and then again the day of and never got a reply. very expensive for a surprizingly worn/uncomfortable mattress, a room with a view of the car park, a shower that alternates between very hot and very cold on its own, and a car alarm that woke me up multiple times throughout the night - not the hotels fault, but could have been avoided if my tiny window wasn't facing the carpark.

The location and the building are great. Super convenient to get in town and enjoy all it has to offer and quuet to get a nice night sleep.
The room lacked caractere. With such a grand outside building, I would have I liked a room more cosy looking with wooden beams or so.

The property was very well thought out. As a former seminary things felt like a school .. even the pencils rather than pens in the room and the CHAT! signs instead of do not disturb for the doors. Rooms were huge. I hadn't brought a bathing suit.
I wish you offered an a la carte breakfast menu. There were not many other eateries around the hilltop. You apparently had a brochure about the history of the property. It was only in French (English would have been better for me) but in any case they were out of stock. I thought it was odd that the front desk hosted us to our elevator but there was no help with getting the luggage to the room. Although they did preface by saying I will show you the way .... not let me help you with your bags.

Beautiful hotel in the old Fourviere area of Lyon. The hotel is picturesque inside and outside and have nice rooms with modern bathrooms. The reception area is a rare sight and quite special. Helpful and friendly staff.
Not really, but would have been even more perfect with view of the city from some balcony or similar.

Some of the staff (especially morning staff) were borderline clean, especially their outfits

Location is beautiful, old covent on top of a steep hill.
We were there in winter so the outdoors pool was closed. The indoor spa area was quite small and had a very limited selection of activities.

Nice restored building made into a hotel. Nice view of Lyon from the room. Close to the funicular to take you directly into Vieux Lyon which was very convenient. Staff were pleasant but not overly helpful.
Spa and hammam area were not well maintained, we noted hair in the jacuzzi. No gym which was disappointing.

Location and spa access are the best things about the place, the building also looks very nice.
Price for parking is very high at 17€ per night and if you don’t stay at the hotel the rate is 12€ per day for the same parking space, but since we were staying we had to pay the per night price. No explanation was given why a 24h per night price was different to a 24h per day price.
Bookings says all taxes and fees are included but you need to add 2.5€ city tax per guest per night.

Great hotel entrance, and the room is clean.
The equipment in the room is very simple. There is even no cafe machine in the room. And the air-con was too strong and hard to adjust the temperature.

Room was really nice. The pool area was also super nice, it was really hot when we were there so we were grateful to have this!
I loved that in the afternoon there was a pool bar, this made pool time extra relaxing!
We had an adorable birthday celebration package in our room too- the cake was AMAZING!
- We had to ask several times for fresh towels for the spa, and the robes were a bit tatty and old.
- Towards the end of our stay we also had to ask for more toilet roll as nobody had come to replace it, despite us having asked multiple times!
- on arrival we were asked for a £2000 deposit, the total we paid was £1200 for the whole week so that was £3200 in total, that's a lot! I've never been asked for this by a hotel before, and apparently the reason being was because we were staying for such a long time (7 nights)? Fair enough if you have a French or European card, they just swipe them, but for me, none of my cards work like this, the amount is taken from my credit limit/ bank account and then released back into it after the stay. Thankfully someone helped us out with this which was really kind of them but I thought the deposit amount was so much! Also they take AMEX but not for the deposit- otherwise this would not have been a problem for us!
- After the deposit incident I felt like the hotel staff had a different view of us... everyone else was offered a refreshing welcome drink... we were not. Other times of the day this happened too, never were we offered. It felt a bit discriminating.
