This hotel is exceptional, beautiful location, clean and amply room, lovely courtyard! I didn't use the pool but the meal was good and the staff were very helpful. The beauty of this hotel is beyond words. I would stay here again and again!

This hotel was just ok. It's very difficult to get to. Views are beautiful but not worth the hike to get up there. The rooms are small even for Europe. The breakfast is not great. The coffee is horrible. Service at the restaurant is slow and the choices are limited. I would not recommend.

I loved the property overall, very historic and our room was fantastic option for our family. What I did not like was the air conditioning was not working in the main bedroom the staff knew this and we still had to ask for a fan which helped. I also did not love the service at the hotel Resturant, first we went down for dinner and were turned away as we needed advance reservations which seemed ridiculous considering there were tables available ( we sat at the bar area and watched) and when we did book it I tried to show my waitress how I wanted my steak cooked and she just said I know, I know and instead of medium rare it was brought medium well! On top of that it was overly salty ( the only meal in Lyon to not come out perfectly). Advice to the staff, listen to your clients, don’t assume.

Long story short. We were given a room with broken AC. When we checked into our room it was unbearably hot. The Staff lied to us and told us that the AC was working but just slow. We asked for a room with working AC and were told all comparable rooms were checked out and that we were out of luck. We went out for the day because our room was too hot to relax in. When we got back at 10:30 pm the room was still uncomfortably hot and the staff then admitted that there was probably something wrong with the AC and that they could upgrade us to a bigger room. When we got to the bigger room, it was not precooled and we weren’t sure the AC in the hotel actually worked so we just took our original room. They gave is a fan and a sheet and told us their manager would make things up to us in the morning. The next morning the manager offered to wire us a refund if we got her our banking info. After emailing back in forth with this inattentive manager, we found out they were only going to refund us 20 Euros, which wasn’t fair compensation to us for being given a room with broken AC in the middle of the summer or worth the bother of figuring out an international money transfer. The lobby and hallways are also not climate controlled, so I’m left to wonder if this 4 star hotel can’t afford air conditioning. I would advise anyone else that doesn’t like sleeping in an oven to stay away.

The room, surroundings, including the old monastery area for breakfast, lunch and drinks as well as the spa section makes this hotel one of the better value high end hotels I have stayed in. The staff is very friendly, and despite the luxurious surroundings, there was a very chill and unpretentious atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again if I have a chance. Also - the lunch was very good quality and good value for money. Better food and price than many of the less high end places in the town. I would give this hotel 10/10!

Beautiful property but the rooms leave a lot to be desired. For example, no irons, no water, no washcloths, sparse decor and a very tiny window that made it feel like a jail cell. The restaurant was excellent, but stuffy service, and the breakfast was just ok. Overall it was not welcoming, and as beautiful as the grounds were, it wasn't worth the money. Visit for lunch, but don't stay.

Beautiful property, unique experience and lovely and quiet and calm. Highly recommend the restaurant/bar. Rooms were well designed, a little noise from the footsteps above. Aircon appreciated in 35 degree heat. Parking easy (if a little expensive). Lovely spa area included in the room rate. City is walkable but be prepared for an uphill climb back!

Beautiful monastery restored! Lovely breakfast included, great bar and restaurant, and lovely to eat and sip in the courtyard. I wasn’t aware when I booked it that it was at the top of the hill… hard to determine on a two-dimensional map! But what a treat to discover it! Easy 5 min walk to the Roman amphitheater, and another 5 min to the Basilica and the funicular to take you down to the old, lively city center. It was very hot while we were there and the A/C (like many European hotels) was not very powerful. But overall a wonderful experience.

Beautiful hotel located atop the Fourviere over Old Lyon. Gorgeous lobby, common spaces, and restaurant/courtyard. Staff are also attentive and very kind. The room was excellent as we received an upgrade to the Loft, which was incredible. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom well equipped, and certainly more space than I knew what to do with
