Everything. No description or picture did this place justice. I read and research everything as I dont like surprises. This place is amazing. The quality second to none. From the layout of the room, the facilities to the incredible quality of the fresh produce I was in heaven. Gym, pool, spa all of it. I had a better meal in the 'bar' than at the Michelin star restaurant that was adjacent. The staff are at your beck and call. Opening doors, giving you umbrellas, organising bookings, taxis. Everything! The views down to the city were amazing. I loved everything about this place and especially the comfort of the bed (hard to find in Europe) and the huge marble shower with built in seat. The toilettries were high end and felt and smelt divine and I never use room products. 10/10 Villa Maia you are indeed a true boutique motel.
That I had to leave!

Beautiful property with the most amazing stuff. It honestly doesn’t feel like hotel but more like home.
10.0 / 10.0
The service, the pool, the view from the room. The staff were very polite, helpful. Also the location is very nice, for some people would be too much cardio walking up but still even then you have funicular railway that you can use.
The Internet connection is poor.

Great location
Little pricy but we knew

Room view was excellent, very clean and comfortable overall. What I didn’t expect was the level of service from all staff, but especially the concierge. Francois and Julien were the most excellent concierge I’ve ever come across. Will stay in Villa Maia again when I go back Lyon just for the concierge team.
Nothing much to complain about, at most the aircon which kept turning back on by itself.

Everything at Villa Maïa was amazing. We were very comfortable for all 4 nights. The room was luxurious and comfortable. The entire staff, rooms, pool, jacuzzi, bar in hotel, and location were all fabulous!
We requested deep tissue massages and facials. The massages were just ok and we didn’t care for the facials. A completely different type of facial than what we are used to.

The hotel atmosphere makes you feel at home. The cleanliness, the room, and the spaces at the hotel everything is very well thought out. We went with our 7-month-old baby, and everybody was lovely with our son! Thank you.

From location, services, staff friendliness and helpfulness standpoint points, they were top notch.
As this is a small hotel, all facilities such as swimming pool and gym etc… are quite small.
Really love the location!

Great hotel in every way. Exceptional service from the staff. Very clean and luxurious, conveniently located 2min walk from the cable car station that brings you to the old town in 3 minutes. The pool and spa area gets top score as well.
We used the room balcony a lot, it was great to chill there with a bottle of champagne after a walk in the city.
Overall I was expecting a bit more for the price in terms of room size and views. Floor 2 has limited views, 3-4 have better.
We were also expecting a bar with a nice view where we could hang out and overlook the city. But the bar photo from the hotel seems to be the high-end bistro across the street which is only open for lunch and dinner (not possibly to chill there with a drink). The hotel bar was nice but has no views.

Nothing, apart from the staff
Terrible facilities, terrible location, looks like a normal business hotel, but with the price of a palace.

Beautiful position with a fabulous view of Lyon. Very attentive and helpful staff

Lovely serene setting which is easily accessible to Old Town (without the noise) and nice modern+old architectural design.
Very helpful concierge who assisted with restaurant and other plans & bookings.
Usability of some of the fittings in the rooms very poor:
- The worst sink ever! Very stylish all-marble sink that allows just 3-4 inches between tip of faucet/tap and surface of sink! So washing hands requires you to tilt hands horizontally flat to risk touching the sink. Not clean because it doesn’t drain!! I was only able to pull the plug out with force and drainage was disgustingly filthy. Had to call in hotel staff to unplug and clean the filthy sink drainage - receptionist and concierge came instead of housekeeping!!
- One bathroom had no cabinet nor vanity top space to place toiletry bags.
- Bathroom bins had lids, so either you keep lifting off or partially off, or bend down to pull open the lid every time you wish to use the bin!
- Toilet had a small remote control but with zero instructions! Turns out that it was a type of self wash bidet, discovered only after it sprayed out over the toilet bowl!
- Breakfast room service choices have no prices published anywhere to help with room service selection. Took 2 tries before reception & room service understood and quoted me.

Breakfast was nice. Coffee could be better
The products in the bathroom were poor

Location was amazing and the staff were exceptional!!!!!
A special mention needs to go to the Brazilian staff member. Villa Maia scored when they hired him. An absolutely exceptional worker.
Our room didn’t have any tea/coffee making facilities.
The blind in between the bathroom/bedroom didn’t work which meant we had to keep closing the curtains on the windows so no one could see into the bathroom. Plus when you turned the bathroom light on at night it woke my partner.
Easy fix though just needed to be repaired!!!!
Hall way to rooms had a slight musty smell and a tad tired.
Breakfast so so.

the location is good, good design, and clean
unprofessional attitude at the reception. Misunderstanding of the matter, and in no case a five-star attitude towards the customer.

Location was fairly central and up on a hill that overlooked the city of Lyon and was so beautiful. Staff was very quick with showing us the rooms and facilities and explaining where to eat. The bar was chic and bartender was knowledgeable. Staff was quick to bring us anything we needed (e.g., an iron for pressing clothes).
Nothing except perhaps the price, but expected this at a 5 star hotel. Because we had reservations for a city tour and then dinner at Paul Bocuse (20 minute taxi ride), we did not have a chance to dine at the hotel (one night stay only)

Spa, view was stunning, suite decoration, pleasant staff
coffee machine in suite not emptied. Almost most no tissues or creams. no plates at breakfast and we had to go down a floor to the reception to get someone to serve us. Buffet and eggs not worth 35euros. No restaurant and no guarantee of a place at the restaurants associated with the hotel.

Staff are outstanding, so helpful, efficient and friendly. Receptionists, concierge team are fantastic. They helped plan my sightseeing and organised 2 great taxis during my stay.
Housekeeping was also top notch and nothing was a problem. Very helpful bringing in extra bedding etc.
Lovely room service and bar team.
Great relaxing bar for drinks and meals.
Fabulous bedroom overlooking garden. Faultless from beginning to end.
I found it close to perfection!

The hotel is situated on a hill above the old time and has breathtaking views of Lyon. The property is modern, clean and peaceful. The spa and large pool are a welcome respite after a long day seeing the city. The hotel is tranquil and the staff very helpful and kind. We had an early taxi and when we opened our door, a member of the staff was waiting to take down our luggage and offered to make us a quick café before we left. The service was excellent.
Though this was not a problem for us personally, if you have physical limitations you may want to consider a property within the old town or elsewhere. The hotel requires quite an uphill climb (either by road or stairs) to reach from the old town. Again, it was fine for us and made us feel quite virtuous after partaking of many delicious meals in Lyon but be aware that you will have to do some walking to reach it or take a lot of cabs.
