Property is well located right near the beach and was well equipped and comfortable.

The property felt tired and is in need of some TLC. The host requested our arrival time which was in the afternoon, since they knew what time we were arriving I feel that they could have opened the shutters to allow for a more pleasant and light filled welcome. Instead we let ourselves into a pitch dark house on account of all shutters being tightly locked. The property felt like it could do with a deep clean.

Magical - loved it, would definitely consider a re-visit.

Location & attention to detail. Well equipped. Folding doors that could open all the way. Back-up / alternative power during load shedding.

Uncomfortable lounge furniture (couch) Patio bench not "user-friendly" as it is not easy to get in or out once seated. Would prefer a more stable braai, loose frames and grids tricky to use. Local kids playing on boats in garden and shouting on our doorstep.

The location and view. House has most things one would need. Gas stove a nice to have with loadshedding around. As we were there out of season and the weather didn't allow for boats to launch early in the morning, we had a quiet stay!

Was told there were maglites etc for loadshedding but there were none, nor any candles.

The Tides is a truely special place

It is the best place for kids. We could keep an eye on them from the deck, while they played on the beach and body boarded. It had stunning views. The property was equipped with everything we needed. Appreciated the emergency lights in the main bedroom and kitchen during loadshedding. Would have loved to stay longer!

When we arrived there was a really bad foul smell. We sprayed lots of air freshener and left the doors and shutters open to get the smell out. It was really ghastly and not very welcoming. I think it might be from the mop the cleaners used. We were also harassed by the crayfish vendors constantly, which is unfortunately now just part of the Paternoster experience.

Not equipped to deal with load shedding, could not even find a LED battery light for temporary light at night. The fishermen are busy day and night, so quite noisy. But also part of the charm of Paternoster.

Modern beach home. Easy access to beach and other amenities within walking distance. Home fitted with 3 bathrooms and a fireplace for the colder days.

Oven's overhead extractor needs serious scrubbing. Soot residue within chimney braai needs scrapping off. Both couch and carpet in lounge area needs deep cleaning.

Lovely family time, but disappointed at the price. Would not have done so had we been informed.

The holiday home itself was lovely and for the most part clean and comfortable, beautifully styled with enough space for everyone. We especially appreciated the bathroom toiletries. See below for more info.

While the location was excellent (practically on the beach), the beach area esp directly in front of us was dirty. It was littered with debris and smelt strongly of urine. Every morning before the sun came up (esp on the Monday morning around 4am), the beach filled up with cars towing fishing boats, driving in, unhitching boats and lots of ppl making lots of noise. Now I know that this is a fishing village, but we had no idea that hundreds of boats would be pushing out from the area right in front of us. I actually have a video clip of hundreds of trailers left on the beach waiting for boats to return to be hitched and driven away by bakkies and cars. While the actual holiday home was great, the price we paid (R2500 per night) was exorbitant seeing as the beach was basically off limits to us. Had we known, I would've booked somewhere else. Very disappointed! A refund of some kind would be the least gracious thing you could do as compensation.

Tides - Paternoster

If not the best then one of the best beach front properties in paternoster. Right on the beach and in walking distance of most restaurants.

The bed linen and towels was extreeeeeeemly filthy on our 1st night (in all 3 bedrooms). The cleaning lady came to change the linen the next day but didn’t look much better than the 1st set. Apparently the bed linen issue has been brought to the owner of the property’s attention but nothing done thus far. One of the showers had pieces of long hair against the wall which was pointed out to the cleaner...she just left it for us to clean. For the price we had paid per night, one would expect only the best. Also, no cleaning services - only if you stay for 7 nights or longer. No one wants to clean dishes every other hour while on holiday.

we stayed the weekend Friday - Sunday. Saturday the tv stopped working. We didn’t even bother to report it. we waited hours for the property to reply and send the WiFi passcode Friday when we arrived. not very friendly staff

We had an excellent stay! Cosy in wintry conditions.

The location, right on the beach was what we wanted, and got.

There were very few eating plates - we did get more when we asked. No large mugs for tea or coffee (only small cups). We appreciated the alarm system, however, it was not always easy to set or disarm, as there was no light indication, and the sound was often muffled by the wind of the sea.

Sweet Cottage

Absolutely loved staying at Tides. A cute, fully equipped and clean cottage. It’s right on the beach and next to the fish market so always buzzing with fisherman coming in from their morning catch. Will definitely go back!!

Our freezer was not working and one of the chairs were broken. But we called them and they immediately sent someone to fix the problem.

lovely for us to be on the beachfront, not the best location though

loved the beachfront and the view (most of the time)

we loved being directly ON THE BEACH, it did come with its own set of challenges which was not disclosed to us and I assure you, had it been, we would not have booked this house. We could not spend our evenings on our stoep because of the beach being a hotspot for the public and loud music and "social gatherings". Guys used the container (I've attached) to urinate against(a few meters when where I was eating) and it was so off putting that we spent our time in our house or on the sea shore. Sat night the music was so loud my windows rattled until 11pm. I know you cannot control what the public do but please can you disclose this info? The recommendations dont make mention of this at all and I feel a bit mislead in believing this house was partially something it isnt. The fisherman come together in the early hours of the morning to go out to see, something else that's quite noisy- would be great to be informed beforehand. Perhaps mentioning that this house is on a very busy part of the beach would be helpful and also the "complex" is a throughfare for the neighbourhood and at all times you have people walking by selling things.
