Hakone Guesthouse Toi

Loved the off the beaten path location, but not easy for a family without a car or anybody who can’t walk up a steep hill with their bags. Completely a shared living situation so if that is something you cannot tolerate well, this is not the place for you. Shared bathroom, no kitchen, but you are able to prepare simple meals via the (owner/ operator). My double room was as simple as it could get, basically a cedar box with no window, but on that note, it was very, very quiet and a cold air condition and very comfortable futons. I should have rented a car as it would have been much easier to get around! The bus is not as easy as I expected, especially with a school age kid. Overall, a friendly and safe set up for someone who spends most of their time sightseeing and only needs a place to get washed up and sleep.

Bathroom could have been updated, was a bit dingy, but served its purpose. Loved the on Sun bathtub, that was an excellent feature.

The staff were wonderful and very helpful. It has a friendly cost atmosphere. The amenities were great and it was really good value for money.

The host was very helpful and caring :) thank you very much for being so willing to help me as well as the nice conversations we had.

I think the sink in the toilet of the mixed accommodation got clogged. I'm sorry I didn't notify the host I forgot about it
