Onsen & Garden -Asante Inn-

I stayed in the dorm-style room, which is a standard hostel setup with bunkbeds separated by curtains. I loved the peaceful and quiet atmosphere of the hotel. In particular the common area/dining room looking out onto the little garden and the onsen were both very relaxing. The staff were helpful and attentive. The location was decent for exploring Hakone by foot or bus, though it was just a little bit out of the way. They did have a shuttle to town a few times a day. I paid extra to have breakfast, which was delicious. There was also food available to buy in the evening. I had some ice cream with red bean paste and little rice balls which was excellent after a day of exploring and then relaxing in the onsen.

I would have liked a dinner option that had both vegetables and protein together, but what I did have was very yummy. Also this wasn't an issue for me but the short walk from the bus stop is quite steep if you have a lot of bags or mobility issues.

It was the best. Staff is extremely helpful. Place is really clean. Onsen is perfect.

-the guests (at least when i was there) were very loud. At the common area it was almost as a loud chit chat party every night which was disappointing considering that going to hakone , what one looks for is calm. I believe the staff could have managed the vibe . -have to be fast to book the onsen
