Excellent breakfast. Worked around our schedule

From the moment we arrived in Oia, everything was taken care of with such care and professionalism. Transportation was arranged for us ahead of time, and when we got there, the luggage porter met us and carried our two huge suitcases through the charming Oia alleyways. When he reached the steps, he lifted one on his shoulder and carried the other by hand — truly impressive!
As soon as we reached the entrance, our wonderful host Takis came out to greet us with the warmest welcome. He gave us a little introduction to the Captain’s House, and I was already completely enchanted. The view took my breath away — I almost cried tears of joy! The house is perfectly located in the heart of Oia, with the most iconic and picturesque view right outside the door.
The house itself feels like stepping back in time. You can really sense its history and charm, beautifully preserved since 1864. Staying there felt nostalgic and magical — like living in a piece of Oia’s story. We were there to celebrate my sister’s birthday, and it couldn’t have been more memorable.
Every morning, we were treated to a delightful breakfast spread, lovingly prepared and beautifully presented. It reminded me of something from my grandmother’s time — homemade, generous, and full of heart.
The location was simply unbeatable. Everything was just steps away, yet the atmosphere remained peaceful and private. The view outside our room was beyond stunning — the kind of view that stays in your memory forever.
When it was time to leave, I accidentally left my glasses behind. Takis went above and beyond to arrange for a courier to check if they could be delivered to me. That level of kindness and attention to detail says everything about the hospitality here.
In short — don’t think twice. 1864 The Sea Captain’s House is the perfect place to stay!

Everything about my stay was exceptional! The location was perfect, the room was lovely, the view was stunning, and the morning breakfast was delicious. Mr. Aki truly stood out. He was the best! He arranged for a porter to assist with my luggage upon arrival and departure, which was a lifesaver, as I wouldn't have managed my suitcase on my own. Mr. Aki communicated with guests regularly, offering assistance and providing excellent recommendations for everything. The room was clean, beautiful, and very comfortable. Overall, I believe this is the best place to stay in Santorini, and I'm already planning my return!

TAKI, our host was excellent! From arranging pick up at the airport to a porter meeting us to bring our luggage directly to the Captain’s house. Breakfast was such a pleasure to have right outside outdoor and the staff was super friendly and very very accommodating. They even made pancakes for our daughter.
The only issue is the shower. We didn’t stay many nights but we were afraid to take a shower since there was no shower curtain or shower glass door. In hindsight, we should have asked the host if it was ok.

Very central location in Oia. Amazing breakfast
One of the main spots where tourists take pictures is right outside the room, but it well separated with a wall and you don’t hear any sound inside

The corner where you enter the 1864 The Sea Captain’s House is literally where everybody goes to take pictures, however it has a door that gives you a private enjoyment of the place. You can’t get a better view to the Caldera. We booked the Venetian room that has a balcony with a beautiful view. If you want to have an unobstructed sight and a bigger space to enjoy, better book the Sailing room, it’s worth the extra amount to be paid.
Takis helped us with every small question we had. Gave us very good food recommendations and how to move in the island.
Thank you for a wonderful stay in such a demanding place.
A little inconvenience with the bath tub/ shower. But nothing that limited the enjoyment. Although a bit challenging for someone that has mobility problems.

The location was amazing. We did not need to go anywhere to have a sweeping view of the caldera, and we could see much of Oia as well. We also liked the high ceiling and the nature of the house. Claustrophobia is not an issue here. The host was very nice and helpful with advice on restaurants and the like, and the room was thoroughly cleaned every day. The breakfast was great, and it was of course outside with the view. Everything on the northern tip of the island was well within walking distance.

When we arrived, we found everything to be just as it was described online and just as the pictures showed. It was spacious and had everything our family needed. The location was wonderful, very central, so if you like being in the center of one of the most popular views on the island, that’s what you get. A lot of foot traffic but we love that kind of energy so it was perfect for us. The breakfast was wonderful, it was set up every morning on our beautiful balcony where we had sea views. The food was delicious and plentiful. Such a wonderful way to start our day each morning and the service was personal, friendly and added that special touch. The highlight of this hotel is the manager Takis. He is very much available to make sure your stay and your trip goes well. He helped us make plans to make the most of our stay and arrangements as well for some of our activities. He is very accessible if you need anything. It is a boutique hotel and the personalized service stood out for us and we appreciated that personal touch. We very much enjoyed our stay and it was a perfect fit for our family.

The location is second to none, the staff and manager were more than helpful with great recommendations and directions while being discrete in their duties. Our stay was like staying in our own 200 year old property.

Hosts are very welcoming. They allowed early check-in and late check-out. They where nice and interesting to talk to. The house has an interesting history; there are few old houses like this on the island. At the same time, it was comfortable to stay in. Everything was clean, tidy and stylish. A comfortable transfer from the airport was arranged and baggage was helped to be carried from the parking area to the house. The breakfast is varied and tasty.
Since the house is located in a favoured location for photos, you can constantly see tourists taking pictures nearby.

The location was amazing. We had a breathtaking view and the host was amazing. We were met by a porter and walked to our location a very short walk and were greeted by our host and he explained everything. We received lots of knowledge about the area and where to eat. We stayed in the cave which was so cool. The breakfast was the best we had at all of our stays so much great food. I would 110% recommend this property.

The whole experience was amazing, from the staff, the incredible breakfast, the rooms and the amazing view from the balcony that you won't want to tear yourself away from. We were very sad to be leaving. Takis and his team gave such great recomendations, I honestly wouldnt stay anywere else if we go back.

Utterly beautiful and peaceful haven of elegance. Right in the centre of Oia, with a view that cannot be beaten. The terrace was the best place in town to escape the crowds. The staff were professional, friendly and knowledgeable and did everything to make our stay magical.
From the pick up at the port, the porter to carry our bags from the taxi drop off point, through the busy streets and down the steps to our door, to the last glimpse of the incredible view as we left, our whole stay was a dream.
Nothing. 😊

We were met by a driver at the ferry terminal, then met by a porter to help with our luggage, and then finally greeted by the affable host Takis, who showed us our room and recommandations for local restaurants and wineries. The view from the hotel is spectacular, and the breakfasts were incredible. Takis runs a very tight ship.
I would only have liked to stay for longer! As far as I am concerned, no improvements are necessary.

The Sea Captain's House is located in the heart of the Caldera in Oia. We were thoroughly blown away by the view. Just over the balcony we constantly saw people lining up to take pictures right in front of the villa (though they couldn't see us unless they looked up). It's that amazing. Takis mentioned that our view is one of the most private balconies in the Caldera. Sea Captain's is also located at the bottom of the "U", so you get amazing photos of both sides of the Calldera, along with amazing pics of the Aegean sea. We stayed in the Sailing Suite. The room has a classical look and was very comfortable. The breakfast was also very good as well. Takis and his staff were also amazing and very helpful with suggestions on things to do. He made sure our 3 days in Santorini were packed with fun activities. You can tell that he and staff take good care of his guests.
We have nothing major to complain about our stay at the Sea Captain's House - and would certainly recommend others to stay there. Some minor points are that we have to share a balcony with the unit next door, though our balcony was the bigger one. The other guests were barely on the balcony, and were only there during breakfast time, so this was not a big issue. And the other guests were also very respectful. This was not a deal breakers at all, and we would certainly recommend others to stay there, 100%. Takis and his team are amazing.

It is expensive, while it is worth more than its price. The location is so good, it is convenient and has the best view in Oia and even the whole of Santorini, the most famous photo location is just a few seconds away. The manager is very nice, like an old friend, everything is well-arranged, he is fully trustworthy, and his suggestion will make your whole trip more enjoyable. The bed is more comfortable than you can imagine. The breakfast is amazing, and when you have it while sitting on the balcony and looking at the amazing view, it is the real holiday vibe. Btw, this hotel uses freshwater, I believe there is not much place on this island that could be so luxry.
No, there is nothing that could be improved anymore. I should have stayed more days here.
