Really friendly staff with a genuine interest in making our stay one to remember. The food was exceptionally good with a wide ranging menu and an excellent breakfast. The Hawstone IPA was also one of the best pints I have had in a long time! The bedroom and ensuite bathroom facilities were also very good

No staff around at check out and not much information provided on check in, had to call later to ask about wifi password, but otherwise were helpful. Shower pressure not great.

Lovely old building which was in a good location for exploring the local area. The room was lovely too - well decorated and with a very homely feel.

Cups too small for making a decent hot drink. A kettle in addition to the coffee maker would have been helpful.

Ideal for a short stay to tour the local area would highly recommend

On arrival we where met with a very pleasant surprise the quality of the accommodation was top class. Bar restaurant Guest lounge and the bedroom where of high quality. The breakfast was exceptional good quality product used. Served piping hot and very large portions plenty of different choices for breakfast. We ate in the restaurant in the evening the food served could not be faulted large portions and cooked to a very high standard. Adam and his staff could have not made us feel any more welcome if they tried it was certainly value for the money have stayed at plenty of other hotels and guest houses but this one stands out would certainly recommend. Unassuming exterior led to very comfortable place to stay. The redecoration was tastefully done and our room was very comfortable. The lounge was particularly well designed for good conversation and the food and service was good.

Our stay was perfect from the moment we arrived. The staff were amazing from the get go, extremely accommodating and welcoming throughout our stay. We had complimentary drinks on arrival, the room was spotless and the facilities were great. Compliments to the chef also as We had an evening meal and breakfast in the morning which was delicious. Absolute gem of a place. Can't wait to return!

Loved this place!! It's so homely. The sitting area is just the best! We went intending to have an early supper and an early night but ended up staying up late chatting to the other guests and then Andy the owner joined us too! The food is sublime. Homemade breads, everything delicious and well priced. this place is spotless and has a really lovely vibe. Can't fault it!

Fantastic hotel with friendly service

Arrived to a lovely welcome from the staff, the owner/chef introduced himself. Was offered a complimentary drink on arrival, which was welcomed after a particularly difficult day. The hotel was recently renovated and was clean, luxurious and comfortable. The food was really nice, the beer cold and even though the hotel was quiet it felt like home from home.

Definitely worth a return visit

Beautiful old characterful building and well appointed room. Very comfortable bed and good shower. I must say the food for the evening meal and breakfast was excellent.

The only issue was the room was road side so there was a lot of noise from fast cars and motor bikes - obviously nothing could be done about this but just pointing out the only negative

This is the 2nd time I’ve stayed here in past couple of months , much better with the windows being able to open . Plenty of on site parking , Bar and food option good . Reasonable prices

Lovely Stay

Bed was very comfortable and the duvet and pillows amazing. Had a Large shower and products. There was a fridge..loved that! It Was a lovely room.

There was a lot of noise from the road as we had to have the windows open as no air conditioning just a little fan. Not a big enough waste bin for a 2 night stay.

A very clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay.

It was clean, cosy and beautiful. It felt like home away from home. The staff were very friendly, cheerful and welcoming, and they went out of their way to make everyone happy and comfortable. The vegan meals were excellent, and I had oat milk for my tea and coffee in the room. I would have liked herb teas included in the selection of tea and coffee in my room.

Hunting Lodge, Newnham

The meals I had were very good. I had a Chinese spiced duck as a starter, followed by a mushroom risotto and a walnut brownie with ice cream to finish. The breakfast for guests was very good too. The young lady on the bar and reception was very helpful and went out of her way to obtain me an ironing board and iron. Also helped carry my bags up to my room and down in the morning. It's my fault for not letting them know I am disabled.

Breakfast between items could have been a little quicker as there were very few people at breakfast. Starting breakfast a little bit earlier would probably help.

Wonderful. Would love to stay again as soon as possible

What a joyful experience it was to stay at The Old Hunting Lodge. It could not have been better from the moment we stepped out of the car in the spacious car park on arrival, to the moment we left, wishing we could have stayed longer. Superb friendly greeting by the owner who was just leaving but came back in immediately to personally ensure we were well looked after. We were shown to our beautiful room furnished in lovely relaxing décor and the most comfortable bed ever. The en suite (at least twice the size of our bathroom at home) has a fabulous bath and large walk in shower to suite all preferences. Added touch of chilled water and a flask of fresh milk all helped towards one of the most relaxing/enjoyable/peaceful hotel stays I have had in a long time. Well done all at The Old Hunting Lodge
