Original building, great character, large room. Breakfast was great.
It was a quiet night so they shut the bar. Under refurbishment but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I left my key on the breakfast table as no one was around.

We have stayed at The chase inn before and thoroughly enjoyed it. And, were both very happy to be returning. The log burner in the bar was nice but the heating wasn't on so it was most definitely needed. We enjoyed a lovely freshly cooked dinner with lots of fresh vegetables. To be fair to the landlord said he had had a flood in the cellar the previous day which had created problems with the beer pumps and taken hours to sort out. However, it just didn't feel like our first visit, even allowing for the flood.
Despite having put an electric oil filled radiator on in our room, the heating was off for our stay, It was very cold in there. And, I'm afraid that we kept it on all evening and over night, which was necessary. A wet cold Saturday night in November. We left very early on the Sunday morning via the out of hours exit, the fire escape. The lighting was only working from halfway down. Luckily it wasn't icy, but still slippery as it was a very wet weekend.
