Nothing, everything was perfect!

This onsen was incredible. We booked a room with a private onsen on the balcony which was a true highlight of our entire trip. We also really liked exploring the other onsens throughout the property. The traditional Japanese food was tasty and a great experience, and the staff were really helpful and polite. Overall we felt extremely relaxed and well looked after here. I would truly love to return to Hakone and stay again.
Nothing we didn’t like.

I really enjoyed the onsen on my balcony. The view was exactly as pictured. The western style beds were really comfortable. I had a great time waking around the hotel in the traditional pajamas and slippers they provide. The chef prepared dinners had an outstanding selection of food. I left feeling satisfied. I also enjoyed the private onsens on the property. Don't forget to get a sweet treat from the ice cream coolers after a trip to the onsen. One of the days it was really rainy and I booked a massage which was a pleasant experience. Overall, this was exactly what our group needed to recharge after our two week trip in Japan.
We paid for the two meal plan which includes breakfast and dinner. The dinner was outstanding. However, the breakfast included primarily cold and raw foods which the majority of our travel party did not have an appetite for. I do wish they would have offered a western breakfast option with eggs, toast, fruit, and bacon similar to the western bedroom option they give you when booking a room.

The location was stunning! They had a shuttle service from the station and back which was very handy! The garden and paths to the onsen were beautiful! And the ammenities were really nice too! The typical pajamas were soo comfy! We are trying to locate the same style to take them back home. We also rented a Yakata for the day which the staff very kindly helped us wear correctly!
We were under the impression that our room bath was a natural water spring bath, however it was made known to us that it was just a standard bath. We had a typical low dining table in our room, but were not able to be served meals there due to hygiene reasons… not sure why to keep a dining table in that case then. In terms of dining and our kaiseki dinner experience, I would rate is 6/10. The server who attended to us was the rare exception of Japanese hospitality… quite shrude. The food was OK, a bit too much and the traditional rice was not good at all. If you’re staying for breakfast, know that you’ll have a typical Japanese style breaker - sushi, grilled fish etc :)
