Great apartment for short or long stays

We stayed in the Viola apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which was excellent for 4 adults. Francesca was very friendly and helpful. Location is close to the lake and 10-15 mins walk from the centre of Stresa. Very clean with great air conditioning, and a dishwasher. Everything you need for a stay (a washing machine would be a perfect addition)

Be aware when booking that the 2-bedroom Viola apartment is on the ground floor and has a small terrace, not a balcony. The other apartments (Corallo, Romantico) are upstairs and have large balconies. There is noise from the busy street but the double glazed windows keep most of it out.

✨ Beautiful Apartment with Perfect Location in Stresa ✨

The location is excellent – just a short walk to the town center, the starting point for boat trips to the islands, and supermarkets. Everything you need is within walking distance or a very short drive. The apartment itself is new, colorful, and beautifully designed, with thoughtful touches that clearly show the care and attention of a dedicated host. We also appreciated having private parking at the property – we left the car there and explored the town entirely on foot. Francesca was a wonderful host – warm, welcoming, always available, and very helpful with anything we needed. A perfect stay in Stresa – highly recommended!

Great value for money with a friendly host near the lake

Francesca was a lovely and attentive host, and replied promptly to our questions. The apartment was spacious, well equipped with a good location. Perfect for traveling with a toddler.

It was quite cold inside in May but surely it's a plus in hotter months.

We have the nicest of memories of our stay at La Gatta Viola!

What we did like were (1) the three balconies of the Romantic apartment. (2) Francesca's prompt replies to our messages and always being on hand to help. (3) The location of the property at walking distance from the centre of Stresa. (4) The private parking space. (5) The fact that the kitchen has been stocked with pepper & salt, sugar, coffee and tea, olive oil, Modena vinegar, etc. etc. These basics are very often lacking. (6) The heating that came on automatically just when we needed it!

What could have been better was the weather,which, in October, is of course unreliable. Most of the time though it was above expectation. The villa is on a busy road. Nevertheless, we slept very well.

Good base location for visiting Stresa and Borromeo islands

The location was great. We appreciated the host waiting for us as we arrived later than planned. We liked the balconies and the outdoor plantings. The bathroom was also clean and nice. Free parking was what separated this property from the rest for us.

Perfect place to visit Stresa and the lake. The city made an extremely good impression on me.

The apartment is very clean, 5 minutes walk from the lake and the centre, furnished in a comfortable, friendly way. Francesca is very kind and helpful.

For me the bed mattresse was very soft and the building is on a main road, sometimes can be noisy a bit but not too disturbing.

Spacious (looks smaller in the pictures), very well-appointed, very clean apartment in a fantastic location (20 min on foot to central Stresa, 5 min on foot to the best panoramic point, 10 min to the ferry). Excellent beds and showers. Easy parking. Nice host. Hope to return.

Lovely spacious apartment, wonderful kitchen, comfortable beds and working a/c in the heat. And a lovely hostess! Easy walk to the lakefront, ferry and downtown, and parking provided. Would definitely return.

I didn’t want to leave!

I loved staying here! The apartment was spacious, with separate kitchen to the bedroom. Every room was exceptionally clean and the lovely high ceilings gave an additional feeling of space. The apartment had 2 terraces! So nice to be able to have breakfast outside and to air clothes out. The kitchen was extremely well equipped, with microwave, hob, kettle, grill, fridge. Also a table in the kitchen. Francesca was a wonderful host, meeting me at the property and giving me lots of information to ensure I felt at home, and ideas of where to go/what to do, and little touches like a farewell biscuit and nice toiletries in the bathroom! Map in the room was very helpful. Shower works well as did the air con. Bed comfy black out curtains to get a good nights sleep. The apartment is just a few minutes walk from the lake whereby there are lots of places for a quick swim. The ‘main town’ is approximately 10 minutes walk east. A shorter walk west takes you to the ferry pick up point of Carciano where you can reach the Borromean Islands in just 5 minutes on the ferry. Tip - if arriving from Malpensa airport, get the Alibus (need to book online at least the day before), cheap and convenient way to get to Stresa, saves you having to go to Milan, and drops you at the Bristol Hotel just 5 mins walk from the apartment.

The terraces are overlooking a fairly busy road so you have to try to ignore the passing traffic went sat outside. It isn’t too bad though and you get used to it.

The apartament is very centrally located. We had a place for our car in the private parking next to the house. The terrace was great! It is like a garden, big, with a lot of plants. The comunication with the host was simple, efficient. We hope to come again someday and recomend this apartament.

The apartment was well equipped and in a convenient location close to the lake. The host was both responsive to messages and accommodating.

Air-conditioning was advertised but unfortunately not turned on for us during our stay. In its absence, we had to sleep with the windows open and were bothered by the sound of traffic from the road next to the apartment.

The apartment is adjacent to a busy and very noisy street. Although advertized as a room with a double bed and a sleeping coutch, the latter costed an extra €10.

Nice place but there are better places to stay for the price

The location of the apartment is really good and the large terrace was really nice to have! The communication was also quite good with the owners but they didn't really give any more information other than what was asked of them.

Due to the excellent reviews on this site and the price, I was expecting more from this apartment. When we arrived, I was rather disappointed. We stayed for 6 nights and cleaning was not included during that time at all. There were also charges for small amenities such as a change of sheets or towels. Contrary to another review on here, the internet was not actually very strong and it was difficult to do a working holiday due to the speed of the internet. Finally, the check in (1600) and check out time (1000) seem to be quite unreasonable, especially since the owner was quite inflexible regarding the check out time.
