Quiet, enjoyable and excellent host

The location is convenient, less than 10mins drive from the town centre where my work place is. The hosts (couple) are friendly and welcoming. They are available as and when needed and ensure their guests have a great stay.

Very quiet area. We loved the terrace area that over looked the beautiful countryside. The hosts were extremely receptive.

Bed was a little uncomfortable and shower very small and stair were steep would not suit elderly guests.

Thoroughly disappointed with the accommodation, not at all suitable and left within 15 mins

We didn't like the location of the flat, the phone reception was awful and especially as the door to the flat wouldn't lock it was really unsettling.

The owner didn't want to put the heating on as he said it was expensive and the heating was controlled by their house and not from within the accommodation we rented so we had no control over the heating in February which was the month we booked it for which was absolutely outrageous, he said that he would watch for when we got back from our trips to put the heating on so we would have always entered a freezing cold flat. The bathroom and shower room were absolutely tiny with no room for even a towel. We could hear the owners in the house opposite so there was very little privacy. The front door wouldn't lock so our belongings weren't secure and anyone could enter the flat at any time, night or day which was deeply unsettling and they should have known that the door wouldn't lock before renting it out. The skylight window in the bedroom could be directly looked through from the owners house which we both found really unnerving as anyone in the house could look directly onto the bed, definitely an inappropriate place to have a window looking into a bedroom where guests would be sleeping The flat had the smallest tv which should really be upgraded, the bed had a thin mattress which luckily we didn't get to sleep on as we left the accommodation within 15 mins of entering the property and found another property to rent just to get out of there as there was no way we were going to ruin our stay in Barnstaple by staying in this property. The flat was pretty much akin to it being just another room in the owners house, they hadn't given much thought to whether the property was actually suitable to be rented out as a stand alone flat, it felt like there was no privacy. We got the impression that the owners of the property built this flat for one of their grown up children and then when they left home they decided to rent it out as holiday accommodation without knowing anything about the holiday industry and were just winging the operation.

Lovely location, comfortable home for a week, stunning walks on the doorstep

On a very quiet lane, with beautiful walks and countryside on the doorstep, yet only a 15/20 minute walk from Rock Park and Barnstaple centre. There is a lovely patio, overlooking gorgeous gardens and countryside to relax with your morning coffee. The host, Theo, is so lovely, kind and helpful if you need him, but knows to give space otherwise...I loved that. I so enjoyed my break at this sweet flat. Tea, coffee and milk....ooh and some lovely choc treats...were supplied and I was offered fresh towels mid week of my stay. Very comfortable and I would stay again.

I would have loved a hairdryer! Not the end of the world, but I didn't pack one and so had some bad hair days.

A very pleasant long weekend.

We liked the location for walking nearby. We also liked the peace and quiet. The owners were very nice.

My husband is quite tall so we found the shower and toilet area quite cramped.

Bed was a bit springy for our liking we used to a solid bed so didn’t sleep too great but everyone if different . We only there for a night so not too much of a problem for us.

Great for two for a few days

It was a compact clean and tidy flat ideal for two people for a few days. Bed was a little lumpy but sort of expected as it is a rental property. Lovely helpful hosts. great little sitting area. Easy to travel to various places so good location. coffee pods were a lovely touch as was the milk and ice cold water.

Was a heatwave but could have done with a fan. (not something needed everyday which is probably why not provided)

Jacky and her husband were very friendly and helpful and were excellent at communication. They went out of their way to put our bikes away in a safe place and get them out for us in the morning. They gave us lots of useful advice and also fixed the light straight away. It was lovely to sit in the evening on the terrace looking out over trees and hill in distance. Very peaceful.

Shower compartment was a tight squeeze but it was ok.

A good place for countryside walking and cycling

This property is on the edge of Barnstaple in a quiet location with access to the countryside but with a pleasant walk into town. You can access the Tarka Trail from Barnstaple town centre.The property is very light, clean and airy with everything you need for a comfortable self catering break. The hosts are lovely people, friendly and on hand if you need anything but they leave you in peace to enjoy your stay.

I like everything about this property but some people might find the shower cubicle rather small.
