Very disappointing

Location is good

Staff at front desk very miserable. I arrived and said 'hi, how are you doing?' and was met with the reply - 'name please?' I also called to ask for a later check out and her reply was simply 'you'll have to pay' not any pleasantries at all. I honestly feel like the lady on the front desk on Saturday evening should be re-trained and taught some manners. It doesn't cost anything to just be polite and friendly to people who are visiting the hotel you work at.

Not as good as previous stays

Great location, rooms are v good and always clean

Disappointed not to stay in the club double, but the rooms we were given were ok, I did miss the coffee machine tbh. The food was a little disappointing in comparison to other visits. Scallops were poor, New York steak was not great and the pinot noir wasn’t pleasant After our meal we wanted to relax in the bar, but the ‘banging music’ was not to our taste so we went elsewhere. Not sure if we will return or stay elsewhere

Room was great , coffee was not best I’ve had and staff were not clearing tables , the quality of Buffett was very good and hot food was excellent. Location is spot on , central within walking distance of attractions, late night bar was terrible , with 1 member of staff trying his best to serve a bar full of people ordering cocktails , after waiting 10 mins we gave up and went to bed , if I was that member of staff I think I would have done the same and gone to bed .

Great stay in vibrant city centre location

Great central location, part of The Mail Box, with good car parking underneath. East walk to the lively canalside areas and everything in the city centre. Large and very quiet room. Very nice professional staff in the breakfast room and bar. Good cocktails. Very enjoyable stay.

Only that the location and limited access roads make the last few hundred metres incredibly slow and the car parking (we used Q Park at the Mailbox) wasn’t signed, nor was the hotel entrance well signed from the car park - convenient once you’ve worked it out but not until then.

bed size was good hotel robes provided bottled water provided

cups by the coffee machine too small meaning coffee was spilt (no instructions) staff at reception unfriendly upon check in I emailed ahead as the stay was for a very special occasion - no effort was made for this considering the price of the room rate only 1 room key provided room was cold and pitch black when we entered - had to fumble for torch to see where to put the key card in order to get light in the room extra charge for breakfast and use of the basic spa facilities

Fantastic location for main sights of central Birmingham. Staff exceptionally friendly, especially our check in staff and housekeepers. High quality food and choice of drinks in bar. Free mulled wine on arrival was nice touch.

Excellent overnight stay to attend a concert at Birmingham Town Hall

The spacious comfort and quality of service was excellent. Meeting the Millwall FC squad at breakfast was a bonus. We upgraded to a deluxe room and it was just marvellous. We'll definitely stay again.

Directions MUST include a clear notice to ignore Google Maps in locating the hotel. We got absolutely lost and should have been told to approach The Mailbox from the front - Google maps sends you to the back of the hotel which is not good. The hotel itself was great - all good, navigating around the stairs and lifts took some discovery but absolutely wasn't an issue.

The location was perfect. The gym and breakfast was lovely! Staff were lovely

On booking.com and some comments, it says no additional charge for spa. We had to pay but also when we got there, it was closed for a private event! The receptionist didn’t inform us about that when checking in, about where and what time the breakfast would be.

Check in was supposed to be from 3pm we arrived at 3.45 as a group of four with two rooms. One of the rooms wasn’t ready for another 45 minutes meaning we were unable to freshen up prior to our meal booked for 4.45. Also there was building work going on which we weren’t made aware of before our stay. This mean’t dust and workmen walking around. One of our party also has a respiratory condition we would not have booked this hotel if we had known

Great Stay, lovely hotel and amazing location!

Bed was super comfy, excellent size room for 2 adults. Shower was huge and very powerful. I would highly recommend, stayed 2/3 times before and will come back. Breakfast was excellent as usual and all the staff were super friendly and happy to help. Location is great, less than 10mins walk to the train station and along the canal to Brindley Place.

Slight issue was in Room 233 you could hear the lifts which disturbed our sleep. The noise was like someone knocking on the door so not ideal and would def wake you up. Thankfully they were not too busy and was more in the early hours.

When I arrived in the evening, the lady that checked me in was not polite, and rushed. I went up to my room to find makeup on the bedside table and many hairs in the bed. I went down and told reception, who changed my room.

OK for a short stay if you want to be in the centre of town, but could use a refresh!

Room was spacious, bed was comfy....

THe hotel is at lease 20 years old, I used to live in the same building back in 2004/5, but it looks like the decor has remained unchanged in that time, meaning it all looks a bit 'tired'. Found a black hair and bits of plastic off something on the bedside table, so have some concerns about cleanliness....
