Scalby Grove Cottage

Fantastic location for exploring Scarborough and Whitby. Very easy to find, easy check in and lovely host. Very pretty exterior to the house. I was a bit worried initially that the host had not emailed/messaged me to say they’d meet us at the property on the start date of the rental. I trusted the booking and they were there. That could be because booking.com is harder to navigate on a mobile. The house was really lovely and well maintained with a beautiful courtyard at the rear. On street parking was fine, always a space. There was a welcome basket with milk, butter, rolls and ice cubes in the freezer which was nice. The host gave us information about local food places etc which was helpful. It has WiFi which is essential when you’re with teens. It initially didn’t seem to work well but was perfect after I switched the box off and on again. We were very happy to stay there as it was lovely. We couldn’t find the bag to put the bedding in before we left (apologies for that Lilybett).

None of these things would stop me from staying there again. It’s definitely one of the best we have stayed in: We didn’t find the master bedroom’s mattress very comfortable (we are both giants)but the other two beds were great. The duvets would be amazing in winter as they are duck down and 13tog but a bit too hot for summer. The road noise might put some off but I sleep with earplugs and so couldn’t hear it. There were a lot of spiders in the house and I had to go round and throw them all out before my daughter would go to bed the first night 😂 (note it’s that time of year when they all come indoors!). There is only one toilet upstairs in this house which may be important to know for some.
