Convenient for western Cherbourg with good on site parking. Nice restaurant offered evening meals, a good breakfast and views over the harbour.
Not exactly a property issue but entrance quite tricky on a gps route along the coast road. There was a narrow tunnel to negotiate and two very close (but only one correct!) entrances to hotel car park. Much easier to find if via Rue De La Paix.

This is a gem of a hotel for travelling with pets via the ferry. It's quiet and in a great location for walks along the promenade and beach with you dogs. The staff are welcoming and pleasant, the rooms are fairly spacious and get a ground floor even numbered room to get access to a small lawn outside. Comfy beds, great showers. Onsite restaurant does a great value fixed priced menu with good choice delicious food if you are too tired to go into town. Several great boulangeries and a tabac within walking distance as well a great seafood restaurant. Free parking onsite.
Nothing. I have stayed several times and recommend

The staff were amazing. Very welcoming, helpful and friendly.
The quality of internet is good. We had a room close to reception, so can't comment if the quality is equally as good further away.
There is a large car park, which is convenient for this busy, residential area.
Previous reviews have summed it up. Its not the ritz. The rooms are dark and small. If you know what you're booking and are ok with it, then this hotel may be fine for a short stay.
We had booked for 2 nights and ended up leaving after 1. We had a ground floor room and it was terrible. The layout was bizarre. The bed is by the door as you enter, with the bathroom being at the other end. There is no window, but rather a glass doorway out to a grassy area. It didn't feel safe to leave this open, and it was the only means of allowing fresh air into the room. There is very little space in the area where the bed is located. Then there is a bunch of wasted space outside of the bathroom - in a kind of passageway towards the glass door. I couldn't made sense of the room layout at all.
There was an unusual smell throughout the hotel. Not entirely unpleasant, but definitely unusual. My wife suffers from asthma and claustrophobia. We had to leave after 1 night, and would have left right away if we could have. The odour negatively impacted her sinuses and the small room aggravated her claustrophobia.

Evening meal was delicious and our dog loved the nice coastal walk nearby.
There was really nothing to dislike.

Staff were friendly. The area was fine and it was a good location to get to the port the next day.
The room was cold. The bed covers too small. There was a dog howling in the next room which was upsetting to hear.

Had a good vibe too it, clean and for the money had basic amenities but every cent was worth it. Bed is firm but comfortable, clean sheets and pillows were comfortable and supportive. Tea and coffee supplied in rooms.
Staff were friendly and helpful even though we don’t speak French.
The toilets in a weird position

Great little hotel, I booked this last minute 😀 after arriving in Cherbourg after 5 days of sailing for the Fastnet. Wonderful staff, great breakfast, also was a nice walk from the town centre of around 3 kilometres.

Very friendly welcome. Lovely couple running the hotel. Clean, comfortable rooms, good breakfast, and a safe place to keep our pushbikes, too!

Access to this single storey hotel is far from straightforward and the SatNav really has to be believed! It is situated close to the English Channel which can be seen from the restaurant.
We were made to feel very welcome with comfortable and practical accommodation with Wifi available throughout the hotel. English is spoken. Breakfast was very good and the restaurant serves a no frills evening meal. Parking is in the hotel grounds. The Ferry Port is but a few kilometres away but a minimum of 30 mins is needed to reach it due to possible traffic problems.
This hotel is well priced.

All staff were very friendly and helpful, large carpark right next to the rooms, reasonably priced breakfast and bar prices, perfect little hotel.
No complaints.

The staff were so friendly and helpful.
The accessible room was too small for a wheelchair user, and I could not use the shower as it was not suitable to get a wheelchair in it. The shelf with the kettle was too high .

Our ferry got cancelled and we found the Shelder last minute on booking.com for an unplanned overnight. 2 adults 2 children in 2 twin rooms. On arrival the parking is easy, the reception was welcoming and the staff very friendly. The beds are comfy (if you like them soft) the shower was amazing! We weren't sure about adding on breakfast but after reading reviews we did and we were so pleased. The best continental breakfast we have ever had. The croissants, pastries, breads were amazing and as fresh as it gets. The fresh fruit, yogurt, ham and cheese also a really great selection. Location is quiet, the hotel booked a restaurant within 600metres walk and it was wonderful. They couldn't have been more helpful. Outside of the main city centre which suited us well.
Pillows either too soft, too small or too firm and bulky, rooms slightly dated. A mug in the room for a cup of tea rather than paper cup would be ideal.

It was a bt further from the centre than anticipated. My fault, not theirs.. I should have checked the location better

Clean, nice location, Friendly staff
In the morning when I wanted to checkout, all the staff was outside smoking. Nobody inside and plenty of people were still having breakfast
They saw me sitting there but they weren’t bothered to come and check what I want. After 10 min I left the card there and went out with the intention to leave and not pay. When I told the guy he quickly threw away the cigarette and came in
Really really poor. Don’t understand why a staff of 6 had to go in the same time for a smoke for over 10 min while people were waiting at reception
On the other hand the chap that checked us in was very polite and helpful

The hotel was perfect, the owners could not have been more helpful and I would highly recommend any business person or tourist to stay here.

The staff were excellent as is the location, about 150mtrs from a shingle/stone beach with a little park above, great for walking the dog. The dinner menu was good, food freshly cooked and the breakfast was good. Parking on site was good.
As mentioned by others the rooms are small and not air conditioned, and without a window. Rear door to room was useful for ventilation. It was difficult to find.
