I would like to thank you for providing us with such a wonderful venue for our family gathering..We had an amazing stay & have taken away some fabulous memories..There’s a couple of points i would like to highlight with aim to help you with further bookings..Under the sink in the main kitchen was very dirty & signs of mice droppings, there was mouldy bread in bread bin & all the outside bins were full to the brim. Also it would b more hygienic to place liners in the bins in bedrooms, toilets & throughout rest of property..I hope you don’t take this as criticism as we all had a fantastic time but just thought we’d highlight these issues to help with your future bookings. The power in the east wing went off on Saturday afternoon & we were unable to get it back on, we compromised by using other family members showers etc.Once again I wish to thank you & hope to book with you again in the future. Kind regards.

That we didn’t stay longer. The only disappointment was that one of the large bedrooms was out of use with water damage and renovations, so some people had to share beds. Overall though, our stay exceeded expectations.

Amazing location but poorly managed.

The location is amazing , the gardens are beautiful , rooms comfortable , lovely house …

There was no one to greet us , no staff to ask , didn’t see anyone , we had issues which needed sorting - some showers were cold , the Aga was not working (we made do with a tiny oven for 13 people) we managed but we were expecting to use the Aga. Electrical points did not work in the kitchen so we plugged the kettle into a hallway socket. A builder arrived on the first morning of our stay to do work , we were only there for 3 nights , we sent him away of course , it would of been disturbing / imposing and we paid to have it for ourselves. The hallways were covered in plastic sheeting obviously for the builder , which we left alone. Overall we had a fabulous time but it would have been nice to have been greeted by the manager and been able to discuss why things weren’t working , maybe checked upon the next day , there was difficulty with phone signal , we didn’t want to waste our time chasing up these problems , trying to get hold of management. Strongly advise improvement for communication with guests.

Gorgeous House, Location, Grounds! Would definitely recommend.

Cannot recommend enough! Stunningly beautiful and absolutely massive! Excellent, private, large grounds. Lots of space and very comfortable for this family of 20 (+dog)! We were able to spread out yet had more than enough room when hanging out altogether. The bdrms were absolutely magical and everyone slept well. Showers were hot and strong and lovely. Decor and Artwork kept us all intrigued and there was plenty of wood for a cozy fire. House was warm and comfortable. Ange the mgr was great! Very friendly and helpful!!

There were some missed cleaning spots. Dirty dishes in the cupboard, dirty pan filled with grease left on the hob, random socks in the dining room, fridge was dirty inside. However, the bedrooms and bathrooms and majority of this HUGE house were very clean and comfortable!! Also, cooking was fairly difficult. the Aga was beautiful but took 2x as long to cook anything. Ok if you don’t mind spending a couple hours in the kitchen cooking for a large group! Maybe wouldn’t have been a problem for smaller groups?

A jaw dropping house with huge potential for a fun stay

I booked Scatwell House for my husbands 40th birthday weekend away and on first glance I did think there was a mistake with the pricing as it just looked far too underpriced for what was pictured! Turns out it was correct and I booked immediately. The house is beautiful, real wow factor when driving in. Plenty of room for our group of 18 people to get a room and move around without feeling crowded or cramped in any way. Facilities were great, everything we needed to live comfortably for the weekend. 10/10 and I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Only issue was the wood for the fire which seemed to be damp therefore would not hold a light and it kept going out - this was only a real problem on the Friday evening of Storm Arwen when a power cut forced a blackout and we did need the heat and the light from the fire for us all to crowd around. Small mix up with check out time but 80% of us were up and away by 11am anyway so this is not a negative review of that, it perhaps just needs amended on all websites where Scatwell House is available for booking as I think it varies online.

Bucolic stay at scatwell. 🤩

What did we like? It’s in an isolated beauty of a spot. Walkable to lochs where we swam, surrounded by fields, rivers and amazing historic trees. Super special. Big rambling country house of much relaxing, cooking, wine on the lawn and outdoors enjoyment. Angela was so welcoming. Best of all we were made to feel very relaxed as guests. Which made our trip terrific. Slept like logs, cooked and hung around the big kitchen. Had dinner parties with the fabulous crockery. Total privacy and amazing surrounds
