Kilmeny

We loved everything about Kilmeny. We felt very well taken care of, from the warm welcome and tea when we arrived, to the incredibly well appointed rooms, to the delicious home made breakfasts we had. Margaret and Blair were kind, friendly and attentive to our needs. Our rooms had special items including luxury bath products, cookies, candy and whisky for sipping. The grounds were beautiful and the views amazing. Overall it was an incredible experience, by far the best place we stayed in our travels through Scotland.

That we had to leave so soon.

Blair and Margaret not only have one of the loveliest cottages I have ever stayed in, they are also two of the kindest and most welcoming people I have ever met. From the very first moment, it was obvious how much they genuinely care about their guests. They do everything they possibly can to make sure you have a wonderful stay. Not only at Kilmeny Cottage, but on Islay in general. The breakfast alone deserves a special mention. Every morning, it was freshly cooked à la carte, accompanied by a lovely selection of fruit and cereals. But what made the mornings truly special were the conversations with Blair and Margaret. Breakfast often came with stories about Islay, little insights into island life and personal recommendations for places to visit and things to discover that day. It made exploring Islay feel much more personal. The cottage itself is incredibly warm, cosy and welcoming. Its slightly elevated position offers breathtaking views over the surrounding landscape. There was a small pair of binoculars in my room, so I could sit and watch the wildlife and landscape outside. This was one of those thoughtful little details that perfectly captures the atmosphere of Kilmeny. I genuinely felt welcome. Blair and Margaret made my time on Islay even more special, and I was truly sad to leave. If I ever return to Islay, and I really hope I will, I know exactly where I want to stay. Thank you, Blair and Margaret, for making my time on Islay so unforgettable.

Fantastic accommodation would highly recommend great hosts Margaret and Blair where great and the breakfast very very good

Everything about this property has been well thought out for a comfortable and enjoyable experience. My husband and I greatly enjoyed our trip and the warm welcome we received. Breakfast was made to order each morning and was delicious, not to mention many options to choose from. The hospitality was truly above and beyond anything we could have expected. Highly recommend Kilmeny for your trip to Islay!
