Loved staying here, and will stay again when in Zurich

The location was right in the middle of old town Zurich - perfect. Easy walk from the Main Train station. Easy access to many restaurants. The staff was nice, and I especially liked the lady helping with breakfast. The breakfast was very good.

I wished I didn't have to carry my bag, 50 lbs, up the stairs from the street, but once inside, there was an elevator that took me to my floor. That's all I can think of that was not great.

Overpriced, small, stuffy rooms. Not a comfortable stay at all

Location was excellent, rooms at the back were reasonably quiet

Bed was hardest bed ever experienced , room you could only just fit your bags in, rooms had no ventilation at all, only windows to open so it was hard work overnight. Staff were not friendly, very abrupt. Breakfast looked overpriced for what it was.

The shower in my room was built for very small people, the shower rail and towel rack were hanging off the wall, the window opened out into an alley, in itself not a problem but the sound from the street on a Friday night was horrendous

Good breakfast. Excellent location - lots of nearby cafes, restaurants, and shops. Zurich HB and Bahnhofstrasse are within 5-10 min walk. Small but clean room. Good value for the money if you need just one-person, overnight stay to visit places in the city center on foot

Stuff in any hotel could make even one star hotel a great place to stay. Can give you a great impression about the city and the people. Can give you the feeling of tens, relaxation, happiness, anger, or welcome. Unfortunately, I felt unwelcome, and there is no tend to help or give extra service when needed.

This was amazing value. Right in the heart of the old town in Zurich and a really well renovated hotel. Staff were amazing, my room was whisper quiet, comfy bed. I am a cynic when it comes to hotels, but I completely surprised by how great this hotel was.

The main entrance seems a bit dank and it does not match the stellar experience waiting inside.

Great location with old world charm

I really liked the location, though there were drawbacks to that as well. The staff was kind. There was some charm to the old building detail like the exposed heavy timbers and stones in the plaster walls.

I thought that I had looked for a property with AC, but must have overlooked it. It was a bit hot when we were there and the rooms were warm. The noise of the square prevented us from opening the windows. I also found that the shower floors was dangerously slippery and is something that should be addressed.

Air conditioning would have been good

Nice hotel room, in a very good location. The young male staff member was very lovely and accommodating, even allowing us to store our chocolate purchased from the Lindt chocolate factory in their fridge, so it did not melt prior to checking out.

There was no air conditioning, and it was 30+ degrees every day we were there. The rooms were very hot, making it hard to sleep. On arrival, we had one very small fan in the room, and that was it. When we asked about a second fan, the older gentleman working there seemed quite taken aback about the request, and quite rudely provided us with a second small fan. This was while the entire staff desk had constant air conditioning going. It just seemed like a bit of a slap in the face that the staff had air conditioning constantly going, yet none of the hotel rooms had air con, and the staff member was surprised and rude when we said the room was very hot. Opening the windows did not help, and the noises from patrons outside also made it disruptive.

Room with a View

Hotel Hirschen overlooks Hirschen Platz a tiny characterful square in the Old Town. Our room 804 had 2 windows which gave us good ventilation and a dual aspect over the square. We felt like we were experiencing “Room with a View” as we were overlooked the comings and goings. Location is excellent: walkable to train station and key sights.

The hotel doesn’t have air conditioning but we knew that before booking so no problem. Access is via stairs until you get up to reception and then there is a lift to floors 3 through 9.

Be careful with the hot water side of the shower knob. It is too hot, my arm almost got scalded when I reached for the handheld showerhead. They should have an anti-scald device somewhere in the valve or something. My husband informed the front desk about this after it happened.

Disappointed with facilities at Hotel Hirchen; considering the potential with such a good location

The location- close to train station and in the old town was good; but it was very noisy at night

The bathroom was not serviced- no toiletries provided: contrary to advertised information: no soap - unsatisfactory in post Covid times No controls etc for heating in the room Miniature TV was perched high on wardrobe - visuals and audio not adequate.. Mattress and pillows need replacing… Allocated room was next to elevator which meant sleep was continually interrupted… Do not consider this hotel value for money….
