Perfect hotel for St Malo

The owners were incredibly helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the area and surrounding areas. They made great restaurant recommendations, helped us with how to navigate to Rennes and knew about there too. Nothing was too much trouble - outstanding service and excellent value for money. I'd have no hesitation in highly recommending this hotel.

It was very comfortable and I would like to come back.

The location is great. It is situated on a quiet square between two busy streets. It's an ideal base for exploring the city. The facilities are excellent. The shower has adjustable temperature control. I was also surprised at how smooth the bed sheets were. The staff are very helpful. When I checked in, I was given a map of Saint-Malo and information about the tide times for visiting Grand Bé.

There's nothing in particular, but it might be too popular and difficult to book. I happened to find the last available room.

Staying at this hitel made for a BETTER vacation in St Malo and Mont St Michel!

Location, room, cleanliness and breakfast were all excellent. But the staff were exceptional — engaging us in conversation and helping us fine-tune our plans so we could have an even better visit to this area, which was new to us. As a result, our visit was MUCH BETTER than we could have had without their help — so I recommend it most highly to visitors hoping to have a great time.

I wish we spoke better French, because, while the hotel was FINE, many other stores/restaurants/places in the area could not understand us very well in English.

Convenient location in an historical attractive building with some soundproofing issues.

Convenient in the walled city area of Saint Malo. The lobby is updated and inviting . The staff friendly. The room is bright and large and and attractive and very clean. The bathroom the same . Water pressure good and water temp good. The buffet breakfast room was nice and bright and the buffet was good. The bed was quite comfortable. It’s in a cool looking historical building .

Main issue relates to noise in room. My room was on the front but during day until 9:30 or so some crowd noise from the square in front of building . Soundproofing between adjacent rooms is not great . Sleep disturbed by quite loud neighbour returning very late one evening. No safe in room . Halls a little dingy.

Incredible Location

Staff was super friendly and helpful, and the location was incredible as it was inside the walled city (Intra-Muros). Breakfast was delicious! Rooms were on the smaller side but we already knew when booking, which wasn't a deal-breaker; however, they were beautifully decorated and clean.

There was some noise coming from, possibly, a bar, on the street at night. This was every night, not super loud but enough to notice it.

Central location, good value/ breakfast and nicely renovated, and nice to be connected by the hotel before our arrival as we were due to arrive late in the evening and we were met by the night porter.

Very small and basic room - recommend only for one night if staying during summer

Fantastic staff. Super friendly and helpful. Check in and out was quick. Staff provided extra fan due to the heat. Convenient location.

Our room was very small and very hot. There was no breeze so it was very stuffy and musty. No air conditioning which made it very difficult to sleep. Provided with portable fans but unfortunately it was still hotter in our room than outside! Unfortunately it meant we avoided being in our room as much as possible. Shower design meant that whenever you had a shower water covered the entire bathroom floor. Overall felt overpriced.

Breakfast was plentiful, of good quality and very nice, a great way to start the day.

Lack of adequate ventilation(unable to open the window fully to allow better air circulation), air conditioning or at least an adequate fan(s) in the room. Facing west, especially with the prevailing high temperatures at the time, the room was very hot in the afternoon and evenings.

Great location and lovely decor

No hand or face towels in the bathroom. Breakfast was offered and served to us on our way out without confirming that it was not included in the room fee so then the front desk staff had to chase us for payment.

Great location, amazing service, best breakfast in the area

Lovely ambience, our balcony faced the courtyard, AMAZING service. It made our trip - from the lady who tried to fix the Netflix in the room for 30 minutes, to the guy at the front desk who recommended all the places to buy biscuits. Breakfast was great value & high quality ingredients

Staff wonderful. Travelling alone I felt safe and confident staying at Hotel Bristol Union.

This hotel was a little gem in the town of St Malo. I am claustrophobic and do not use lifts, next time I will book accommodation on a lower floor than floor 5, but the stairs were excellent exercise.

Super helpful people and super location

The staff excelled in helping us with late check in, safe storage of bicycles and other things. Excellent breakfast with lovely bread and croissants, fruits and various homemade delicacies. Central location in the intra euros easy yo find and close to restaurants and the sea.

Fantastic location, very friendly staff, fantastic breakfast. One of the best city hotels I stayed at in the last 5 years (out of 50+ hotels)

The elevator is slow and very small. We stayed at one of the upper floors, so it takes time, especially if you forgot something :-)

Lovely spot in Intra Muros

Good value for money thinking that we are in Intra Muros very touristic area in full season. Very nice staff and great deco / atmosphere We will certainly recommend this hotel to friends.

It's a shame that the french viennoiserie at breakfast don't come fresh from the bakery... but it was lovely even so.

Lovely hotel with a fantastic staff

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They recommended restaurants which were indeed very good and close to the hotel. They kept bags for us after we checked out and had a very nice and clean toilet available before we departed. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location is great. Lots of little extras like a kettle and soft big towels that just made it great. We did not have their breakfast so cannot speak to that. There were many thoughtful gestures by the hotel for their guests. The stay was great!

The staff were exceptional, very friendly and helpful. Location was great.

The room was very tight, especially the bathroom. I have never seen such a small bathroom outside of Japan! Also, the room wasn’t sound proof and I was given a first floor room facing the main street. The noise outside from bars & restaurants don’t die down till past midnight.

Clean and quiet room. Excellent location. Friendly staff.

Breakfast started at very late (7:30), so I missed it. The room had literally no desk space or anything to put stuff on - I had to resort to a clothes cabinet.
