Pension Kaoru

A truly special and authentic Japanese experience Pension Kaoru was one of the most memorable places we stayed at during our trip to Japan. The location is absolutely beautiful — peaceful, quiet, surrounded by nature and far away from the crowds of Tokyo, Kyoto and the big tourist routes. This was exactly the Japan we were looking for. The owner is an incredibly kind, warm and helpful person. He speaks understandable English, which made everything very easy and comfortable for us. We felt genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived. We were the only guests at the property, so the whole place felt very private and peaceful. We had access to the onsen, which was a wonderful experience after a day of travelling. The rooms were traditional, with futons and tatami mats — simple, authentic and exactly what we wanted. We chose the local dinner option, and it was probably the best meal presentation of our entire trip. The food was delicious, beautifully served and felt very personal and local. It was not just dinner — it was a real Japanese experience. Pension Kaoru is not a luxury city hotel, and that is exactly its charm. It is quiet, authentic, peaceful and full of character. For anyone looking for nature, silence, traditional rooms, great hospitality and a genuine local atmosphere, this place is absolutely perfect. We would happily come back and highly recommend it.

What a beautifull place in the mountains. Meeting the owner felt like seeing an old friend again. Best dinner we had in 14 days and we never had a bad one but this was perfect

スタッフさん達が親切丁寧にお世話してくれます。 夕ごはん、朝ごはんが美味しい。ごはんとカブの漬物、蕎麦が特に美味しい。

ごはんが美味しいので、つい食べ過ぎておなかが痛くなった。喫煙所の洗面台で顔を洗うのが至難の業、身長175cm、腰が痛い。

The host was very friendly and the food was really good. Also the whole ryokan had a nice and cozy atmosphere.

It had only one shower/onsen for the whole hotel
