Kurumisawa Ryokan

Our two-night stay at Ryokan Kurumisawa was nothing short of magical, and we are already planning a longer return trip. 🌲 The Location & Vibe The journey to the ryokan sets the stage perfectly—the drive is absolutely breathtaking, winding through stunning lakes and majestic mountains. If you are looking for a peaceful, serene escape, this is it. While we spent our time relaxing, we noticed it’s a fantastic base for outdoor enthusiasts. Next time, we definitely want to stay longer to explore Otaki and take advantage of the local cycling, hiking, and meditation activities. This time we went to Magome and Tsumago which is just an hour away. 🍱 The Food (A Absolute Highlight!) and comfortable bedding We cannot say enough about the incredible meals prepared by Mrs. Hisano. Her cuisine was a massive highlight of our trip! Every dish was authentic, bursting with flavor, and beautifully introduced us to local delicacies. On top of being delicious, the portions were incredibly generous. You will not leave hungry! The bed is very comfortable on the tatami, which is great for a baby too Everything is clean spotlessly!! 👶 Outstanding Hospitality & Onsen What truly made our stay unforgettable was Mrs. Hisano’s exceptional hospitality. Traveling with a five-month-old baby can sometimes be stressful, but her warmth, welcoming nature, and attentive generosity made us feel completely at home and comfortable. To top it all off, the Onsen is beautiful, offering a stunning, peaceful view of the mountains that instantly washes your worries away. Verdict: Whether you are traveling as a couple, a solo adventurer, or with a young family, Ryokan Kurumisawa is a must-visit. Thank you, Mrs. Hisano, for a wonderful stay! We will be back!

Hisano and Koji are the best hosts. They made us feel very welcome and were extremely helpful. The Ryokan is superbly located to explore the area. Breakfast and dinner were stand out. It was the best food we have had during our two week stay in Japan.
